Thanks, John. We’ve been grazing it for years knowing it was slated for development and it finally happened. At least it wasn’t the one with the bass pondSorry you had to make way for the urban sprawl... beautiful knife though.![]()
Every time I saw one of the GNR vehicles I expected to see Axl Rose
Thank you very much my friend, you can see those guys are hard workers can't you?Thank you most kindly, Jack!!! It is an extremely enjoyable pair.![]()
An awesome Lambsfoot and Barlow pairing to start your week; very cool old US transcontinental railway shot showing some tough laborers!![]()
Attractive pairing JJ, and a practical one
Sounds like you earned it Pete!Man. I. Needed. A. Beer. View attachment 1922091
Impressive trifecta of knife-on-post photos, Jeff!Up at a ridiculous hour this morning to go cook for a men’s breakfast in their church basement. I’ve been doing this for 15 or 20 years, but we lost close to two and a half years because of the Bat Bug. Hard to have a breakfast when the church requires masks…
I needed the belt knife for food prep. I wasn’t happy with the thick edge, so got out my oilstones last night and thinned down that back bevel. Then raised it up and worked the edge on an Austrian stone made for sharpening scalpels. Now it cuts.View attachment 1919438View attachment 1919439View attachment 1919440
Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
Stellar stag pair, Harry! These 2 seldom carried Northfields today

Harry
Glad to see that vintage SAK got to hit the road with you!
Thanks for the confirmation. My Case '47 stockman knives have 3 springs, and that works out well IMHO.Thanks and yes. It's my favorite Case stockman for sure.
Thank you, GT.
I'll let you in on a little secret... It is magic.![]()
Case Canoes Conquer!!
Thanks for the chuckle sir. Yes it can swim. Thankfully house was 2 feet higher than storm surge.
Sensational pair of vintage winners!
Amen!I wish they still made some of these old patterns/blade combos.
I know it's too late if you were taking a poll, but for future reference, put me down as favoring that superb sowbelly stockman!I haven't decided.

Noteworthy Northwood, LT!!...

5K Qs , @r8shell , beautiful scrimshaw work on that canoe. It is evocative of a more pleasant place and time. I believe it epitomizes the reason we enjoy collecting knives. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for your kind words, Todd.Wow Gary, those two are show stoppers!
Splendid pair, John!Good Morning Porch Friends and Happy Sunday

I always enjoy seeing that stag Klaas and the yellow moose, Greg!...
Thanks, Gary. I only recall seeing one other here with the same rosewood covers and tent shield but it wasn't a 47 whittler model.
Another whittler in my pocket today, this one a stag handled Klaas, as well as a Queen made Winchester moose pattern in smooth yellow bone.
The hatchet in the pic is made by Lee Reeves, given to me by a friend over 20 years ago.

When I worked with prospective teachers, I often told them that effective teachers could say the same thing in dozens of different ways. (Of course, I tried to tell them that in several ways.)As a teacher, I have a thousand and one answers.

Thanks Gary, but I can’t take credit for the edge, all the credit goes to Jeremy @sbh06. I haven’t touched the edge since he sent it to me.![]()
Nice action shot!!Amazing knife, Greg
It turned out great. I officially finished yesterday when I painted it. Now there’s enough room for chairs and the patio umbrella up there. Here it is with the SAK I’m carrying this morning.

Fantastic slimline trapper, Mike; I have one just like it!Thanks Gary. There is a city water line across the road. I've always called it "city water" and I recall my Grandma in Tennessee referring to it as "city water" when it became available to her, but here in Missouri, folks call it "rural water". Missourians are kind of wierd
I thought about hooking up, but it was going to be 2 to 3 weeks minimum. As far as I know I have good well water.* Tastes good anyway and doesn't discolor the laundry, although the toilet bowl is rust stained. Lots of lime in it. Most folks use a softener, bit I've eschewed using one thus far. The real decider was speed. Once I called the well people, they were out the next day and the problem was solved.
*I worked in the environmental field for 28 years. Once, when heading out to the field, I stopped by my house to pick up some boots. One of the guys I was with asked if I ever had the water in my well checked. He was somewhat flummoxed when I said, "No. Why would I do that? I like my water. If I had it tested, I might not like it anymore." He had trouble with the logic
Slim trapper and soon to be victim View attachment 1920609

I thought I was the only one who did that on Sunday nights, Jim!Too much braining for Sunday night
Was only trying to determine the numeric derivative and integral for real functions
... and had to get the Lamb Foot out ...

Brassy and classy!!
Thanks for the info, Bart....
Thanks , Gary. It’s an old rusted plow of some sort. It sits along the driveway of one of the ranches and makes a good picture spot.

Smart dog! Do the cows object to finding a dog in their tank? When I was a kid, we often had turtles and bullheads in our cow tank, but it didn't seem to bother the cows.Once it got too hot to skate I headed to work with this one, in anticipation of grilling and drinking a couple beers tonight.

Very cool, love it !12C27
And yet it's thinner than a lot of two-springers, and lacks the yawning voids of some three-springers.Thanks for the confirmation. My Case '47 stockman knives have 3 springs, and that works out well IMHO.
Late yesterday, when I'd decided the Master Barlow was a bit much in my cargo shorts pocket, Greensleeves beat out the sowbelly very narrowly.I know it's too late if you were taking a poll, but for future reference, put me down as favoring that superb sowbelly stockman!
That just doesn't look safe.
Thank goodness. At least it wasn’t the one with the bass pond
Excellent pairing, Jack.
Thank you, GT.Splendid pair, John!
