Thanks Gary. There is a city water line across the road. I've always called it "city water" and I recall my Grandma in Tennessee referring to it as "city water" when it became available to her, but here in Missouri, folks call it "rural water". Missourians are kind of wierd
I thought about hooking up, but it was going to be 2 to 3 weeks minimum. As far as I know I have good well water.* Tastes good anyway and doesn't discolor the laundry, although the toilet bowl is rust stained. Lots of lime in it. Most folks use a softener, bit I've eschewed using one thus far. The real decider was speed. Once I called the well people, they were out the next day and the problem was solved.
*I worked in the environmental field for 28 years. Once, when heading out to the field, I stopped by my house to pick up some boots. One of the guys I was with asked if I ever had the water in my well checked. He was somewhat flummoxed when I said, "No. Why would I do that? I like my water. If I had it tested, I might not like it anymore." He had trouble with the logic
Slim trapper and soon to be victim
