What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Jon sez it’s a thing, it must be a thing …

(actually only carrying the stag today but I couldn’t resist … 😏)
It made for a great pic 😁👍
I don’t have any muskrats around our place, but I do see groundhogs on the daily (aka whistle pigs, land beavers, or I believe in the UK you go with “woodchuck”). So I’m ready to dispatch any marmots that come my way!
🤣👍
Thanks Jack :)
The appointment went well. Very well. Other than the dentist/periodontist, I'm done with docs until next June View attachment 1928636

... assuming nothing falls off or blows up :p

I didn't cut anything, but the White Owl has officially been carried now. Love the Winterbottomish jigging.

That's good to hear 😊🤞
For some reason I didn't think to change down for the eye doctor. No harm done.

Eye candy 😉👍
Thank you most kindly, Jack!!! :)👍

Your Metal Monday "small yachting knife" certainly has a super cool (and beefy) marlin spike, it looks awesome with the regal HHB!:D👍👍
Thanks JJ, the pattern is the same as the old Sheffield 'Girl Guide Knife' 👍
I've been toting some metal and micarta today. :)
You've got all the boxes covered with that perfectly practical pairing my friend 😊👍

Too far behind in this thread to catch up, even if I limit myself to one comment per page. So I'm just responding to posts that included comments to me.

Thanks for the bonus shot Gary. 😎👍

That’s what it’s all about. 😊👍
You're welcome, Todd. :)
The knives with special stories are my favorites.:cool:

Thank you. Palsy button for short. I have to keep my flash suppressed because the flash no longer pops open.
Yup, it's pretty hard to not twitch. I may have to get out the old tripod.
[I just took six pics, none of which are remotely acceptable]

That's better. Even without the tripod.
I'd be proud of that photo of the sowbelly stockman (and I'd be proud of the knife, too)!:thumbsup::cool:

It's worth seeing again and again. 🤠
Kind of you to say so, John. :)

Case Classic of the day is a Rodgers Bone Sowbelly, with a Yankee Barlow.

Splendid sowbelly stockman; love the "XX" blade stamp!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's some nice Rough Rider stag. 🤠
Thanks, John. :)
That run of RR stag occurred before I started acquiring knives, and I feel very fortunate that, long after they were discontinued, I happened to make an infrequent visit to the Exchange here and noticed that Jeff black mamba black mamba had several nice stag RRs for sale.🤓

Classy couple of knives, John!:cool::thumbsup:

You are correct Gary 5K Qs 5K Qs : Case came out with a Series of 8 in 2016 with that Walnut Rogers Jigged Bone and I was gifted all of them by my Kids .

Thanks for posting that impressive group again, Harry!:cool::cool:
The photo reminds me that there are a couple of patterns in that series that I should try to track down sometime!

Yesterday, after picking Eleanor up from school, I took the girls over to a friend’s house so they could swim in the lake. While walking around in the shallow water, I spotted something sticking out of the sandy lake bottom. It turned out to be a Minnesota license plate from 1935. 😲

Here’s what it would have looked like before spending who knows how many years in Lake Minnetonka.

Very cool find, Barrett! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
I'll bet that's a relic from one of the first ever "Car on the Ice" raffles! 🤓;)

Terrific trio Gary :)
I appreciate the compliment, Jack. :)

Thanks, Gary. Yep I dyed the stag handles with some RIT, RR's are perfect for that kind of experimentation. I'd never forgive myself if I botched up an expensive knife.
Thanks for the confirmation, Greg. Quite a bit of the RR stag I've seen has white parts that are really white, and I like the color you added!:thumbsup::cool:

Maserin hunter & Rough Rider stockman today.

Really like the crosshatching on the handle of the Maserin, and I admire the design of RR medium stockman knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Oh ya... That one is fabulous! 🤠
Very nice 🙂👍
I really like that humpback !
Very nice Gary, your sowbelly stockman collection is very well…stocked. 😄
Thanks, guys. :) I like the spear main on that Case humpback stockman, and the harvest orange pocket worn bone is a multi sensory treat!:cool::thumbsup:

Morning coffee with these two. View attachment 1926300
That pair would wake me up, no caffeine needed!🤓

Covid's still going around here, so I still mask up in stores. Besides, I've never before gone a whole three year stretch without catching one cold, so I'm not in any hurry.
Yeah, I still wear a mask in indoor public spaces (stores, medical offices, churches, library, post office). When a new semester started at school 3 weeks ago, I decided to start without a mask. I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed teaching in person without a mask for the first time since March 2020! 😁 Unfortunately, I've already had 2 students down with COVID.:( Now I have to decide whether to go back to masked teaching. (Got the new improved COVID booster and a flu shot on Saturday morning, and then spend much of Sunday in bed feeling achy all over with reaction to one or both injections.)

Splendid sowbelly stockman; love the "XX" blade stamp!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Good eye GT! I totally agree. You don’t see blade stamping much and it makes for a unique and special knife. One of my favorite Case Classics. Thanks for the compliment!

Two Toothpick Tuesday.

Now that I have over two dozen of these Case Classics to play with for a little bit, my repertoire is quite expanded - making alliteration fun.

This Case small toothpick is much bigger than their current small toothpick. It’s as long as a GEC 15. Can’t help but think it would be a much better seller if it was currently this size and this clip blade shape.
