Thanks for the compliment. There is something about the colors that give me a twinge of nostalgia, but I can’t place the trigger for the nostalgia in my memory. Getting old I s’pose.

The wood has approximately the same density as hard maple. Many of the trees have a deep red, photo-reactive heartwood and an unusual visual presentation that comes from a reticulated pore distribution. Most usable sections for carving and knife handles are of limited size.
