What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I've been discourteously casting off old Greensleeves.

Headed to town in a bit to mail bills, and lunch at the Brass Rail Restaurant for a French Dip. Actually, the Brass Rail might lose out to the Stock Yards and a chicken fried steak. That being the case I'll tote this Calf Roper Stockman.

That’s a high quality vise there that your other vice is leaning on!
I have an ancient Ceaftsman end vise from Grandpa that I used on the woodworking bench I built for guitar work. When I get home, I’ll shoot a photo.
It’s well worth the expense of buying an old vise. I once bought a new bench vise at a big box chain store, which was imported from a certain country. It looked very strong, with massive jaws, but when I used it for the first time, attempting to squeeze an Argentinian .45 slide for a better fit on a Colt frame, the vise simply came apart. I discovered that those massive jaws were pot metal with a thin outer hardened layer instead of solid forged steel.🤔
Thank you my friend, I was talking about you within ear-shot of that vice just today :) Disappointing about that vice  I don't know how things are there Jeff, but here you can probably buy a good old vice for less than the cost of one of those dubious modern ones
I often think of myself as being a knifeaholic and that I have accumulated too many knives, but, after seeing one of his posts (cigar boxes and drawers full of knives) the other day, I reasoned that I am not a knifeaholic at all. ........................... Mr. Jack is !
It is all you enablers here! o_O 🤣
I then proceeded to order me another knife. 🤣
🤣
It is rather fitting, for a man known on the other side of the pond, as knife man. 😲😲🤣
'THE Knife Man' I'll have you know! 🤣;)
Stay at home day today. Sausage and eggs up for breakfast.

Nice Bunny Ed
Going with Mr. May aka, “The Beech Boy“ today after a shaky one yesterday. I was boxing up a knife to mail today when my house began moving back and forth. Having lived in SF for forty years we’ve experienced many quakes. Yesterdays 5.1 was nothing compared to the Loma Prieta in 89 which I experienced while riding my MC. Let me just say, imagine riding a motorcycle at 60MPH on a bowl of jello while it’s being shaken violently. 🤯

That is quite a coincidence, I was talking to a friend today, and he has just named his new old British motorbike, 'Beach Boy', something to do with the fact it's a single cylinder 500! :D
A generous gift which arrived yesterday. Thank you good sir!

I’ve been interested in this 29 pattern and this is a great knife!

My first impressions is that it has a perfect action. I really like how the coping blade and punch snuggle low in the frame while gripping the knife with the clip open. Also, Osage is one of my favorite covers all topped off with hotdog! 3 5/8” frame glory.

🔥🔥🔥

Very handsome :)
Thank you very much for your kind words, Jack!!! :)

Awesome pairing of your Lambsfoot and Barlow for what appears to be a bit of birdwatching; lovely shots of those cool slicers, too! 😃👍👍
Thank you very much my friend, bird watching it was :)
I grabbed a couple old wood covered electricians for some Wednesday wiring. :)
Those two wood-covered wonders are a great choice JJ :)

I switched to a pair of Camillus, a 23 Big Jack, and 72 Carpenter’s Whittler. Neither is very pretty, but I don’t worry much about that. The jack dates to the late 1940s, and the whittler I lucked into at the flea market. I have two of each of these patterns ~ it’s a vice of mine.
Here are two of my vices on two of my vises. 🙄View attachment 1970656View attachment 1970655
Cool pics Jeff :)

John, once you get those tires scrubbed in it’s time to get rid of the chicken strips on the rear one! You may want to remove the peg feelers first. Nothing worse than high siding digging a peg into the asphalt while leaned over in the middle of a curve. Trust me I know 😊.
