A Jef Pearce Nessie - I just bought this guy off the exchange. It's my first non-factory made slipjoint. I've got a bubble in the back of my brain that as soon as I'm done with my other ninety five hobbies I'd like to make some slip joints, so seeing a handmade one is nice.
It was curious that there were obvious hotspots on the handle. The bottom of the blade channel was pointy as heck, but a few minutes with a grinder and some sand paper cleared that up. Ditto with the bottom edges of the scales. It has a few very minor cosmetic issues, which serve to highlight how tough it must be to keep steady hands during the grinding process. It has a half-stop, which I've never had before, a hand-ground bevel, which I like, and is very hefty at over 4oz (brass liners). The blade shape is very attractive, to me, and the point is in line with the center of handle, which I like as well. The guy I bought it from put an actually good edge on it when he sharpened it, which I really appreciate.
It is a very similar shape to two other knives I have and love, so it'll be a comfortable fit, and I look forward to giving it a workout.
