What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you JJ, someone has to supervise the cake-cutting ;) :D
That's a great supervisory position!
Your Case Hunter looks incredible JJ, and I know those MAM knives are super slicey  Nice combo buddy :)
Thank you most kindly, Jack!!! You're right, I've got to avoid being bit by that sharp little fella! :D;)
Off out for breakfast with a pal today, and toting my Hartshead Barlow, and Waynorth Black Jack :)

An outstanding pairing of two magnificent slicers; it's poetic how a Black Jack goes so nicely with a Jack Black creation!;)👍👍

not actually totin’ this one, but it just arrived and I thought I’d share …
I generally carry a small Swiss Army knife along with whatever else, and recently started getting interested in some custom and unique SAK variants … and I tripped across this homage to the Lion of Lucerne.
I actually found an all silver one first, ordered it, and then found this one … so …

Wow, that's a awesome SAK Paul! Lucerne is one of my favorite Swiss cities! :)

I'm glad you're well my friend, and hope that Nancy and the boys are too :) Sorry to hear about your folks having dementia, I hope there is still some periods of clarity
Thanks Jack, Nanc and boys are all good. Nanc had foot surgery a few weeks ago so for now I can run away from her so I've been pretty brave around her of late 😁 There are good days for sure and yesterday my dad and I spent two hours just driving around our small town and then a trip north a dozen miles to the local lake where we grew up and it was one of the nicest days spent with dad in years....I am blessed❤️:)
Nice - is it safe to assume you are a numismatist? I was a collector as a kid …
The reason I felt compelled to reply to your post is that not 15 minutes ago I ran across a 1926 Peace Dollar that I gave to my dad on his 90th birthday (2016) … we lost dad later that same year, and while going through his stuff my sister handed me the dollar … I suspect I will keep it until someone is going through my stuff … 😏
Funny how things work sometimes …
I am Paul and have been for 40+ years. I learned early to recognize the sound of Silver when dropped onto a counter. I love vintage paper also. I love the story of the gifted peace dollar to your dad and now it's back with you. I have gifted my boys a new Silver dollar every Christmas for 20+ years:)

The Peace Dollar is a remarkably beautiful coin, you Americans are lucky to have a coinage with many attractive pieces. There was going to be a centenary Peace Dollar issued by the US Mint in 2021 but it never materialized...
Current Dollars are fine items too and paulhilborn paulhilborn very kindly gave me a Walking Liberty- which is taking a nice patina as silver does.

Will, it did come to fruition...very limited but I had to have it ;)

Finally worked up the gumption to sharpen and carry this Davison, and so very glad I did. What a scalpel! Thought it made a nice contrasting pair with my perpetually filthy Cowbell.

First use, push cuts through masking tape like it's not there, steers well for a hollow grind. Obviously this task required a fancy custom built slipjoint, especially if my wife asks 😁. I want everyone to know I did not pay 29.95 for that old turntable, talked them down to 10$ because I need knife money 😅 Happy Thursday Porch friends!
Awesome pair. Love that Davison, it needs to be used 👍
Likely our last boat outing for the season. Had a very relaxing cruise, stopped along the way and visited with some friends. My new 77 user came in handy. Thanks Jeremy sbh06 sbh06 . 😎👍View attachment 1977920
Looks like a great way to spend an afternoon, Todd. 👍 Some time in my life I would love to live on some water.
Some of the coolest Barlows around. 🤠
Thanks, John. It’s one of my few “nice” knives.
I love the horn big ‘un, John. Hope you have a good weekend.

A Camillus Cub Scout knife with a couple of other treasures that I found today….my first oval steel which is made by I.Wilson Ex Sycamore St, Sheffield which under all the gunk has a beautiful rosewood handle. Also a 24 inch extending ruler that doesn’t feel like your standard boxwood - really smooth to the touch and stunning patina. Last shot is the grey Camillus next to a black Imperial.

That looks very Lambie!
Thanks Jack. Mrs. Bigfish had the sausage, cheese, and wine ready to go when we got home from work. She’s a keeper! 🤣

Two nice ones there Jack. 😎👍
Fantastic Todd, that sounds like the start of a wonderful evening :) Thank you my friend :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I’m starting mine right now! 😄View attachment 1978947

I've been toting this Oil Field Jack and a Fixed Blade for Friday. :)
What a fantastic pairing! Oil Field Jack is a handsome pattern, I should own more tortoiseshell acrylic! :D I always enjoy seeing that bold and beautiful Kephart-style FB too my friend :)

LOL! :D I hope Nanc is recovering well my friend :) That's a nice story Paul :) My mate's dad has suffered with dementia for some years, and finally had to go into a care home about a year ago. Your tale reminded me of similar ones my pal has told me :)
