What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Still totin' some of my older red bone Case XX's for this Saturday.
This pair are from the 1970's .................... a full sized Trapper and a Copperhead, back when Copperheads were really stout. 😊

Quite a roll ya been on! I daresay best for last.
You must look rich or handsome... they tend to leave me alone, guess I'm neither. ;)
I figure they’re half blind, John.
It's done it again. Dropped about six inches of snow over night and it's still coming down. Mostly light, quarter size flakes which makes it possible to use the leaf blower to clear some of it off but it's gonna take a lot of shovel work and plowing with my small tractor to clear it. This is the kind of day when ya want a large, utility type, knife handy for unexpected chores so, I broke out my Case 2138 L SS (Linerlock) Sod Buster and I'll carry that in a belt sheath on my belt. Sausage, eggs, and hash browns for breakfast.

Yes, fuel up, but please pace yourself!
Nothin like a full size Buster!
Snow on the car, but not sticking on the ground.
Yet.
One to use, one to play with.

We are visiting family. I get to tinker around in my Father-in-law’s stash and have fun when I’m here. I raided the trapper drawer for this turquoise mini trapper. He has spicy taste. So different from me, and I love it.

If I were your FIL, I’d make you walk through a metal detector on your way out.

Nice choice John. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘
Try to stay warm. The temps back home look gross
Will do Jon. Got maybe 4ā€ of snow over night to go with the cold temps. šŸ„¶šŸ‘
I carried this one again today.

Looks great Bart, do you use the little Wharncliffe much?
Many thanks JJ, that's a stunning pair of Scouts  Great to see them together :)

Congratulations John :)

Have a great weekend folks :) Here, it is very much a weekend of remembrance - Armistice Day yesterday, Remembrance Sunday tomorrow - so I'm carrying another military knife from WW1 (8173-1914 pattern by Joseph Allen), along with my trusty Hartshead Barlow

Nice thoughtful carry Jack. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘
2 more of my original set of 12 Rough Riders that I've been totin' this week.
Based only on photos, I thought I was going to be a big fan of the congress pattern. But once I got this RR congress and used it for a while, I just wasn't very excited by the experience. I think it's my only example of a congress knife (except for a small Case XX half-congress I won in a GAW).

I really like the 3-blade stockman pattern, and it seems like I should enjoy whittlers as well. I think I do enjoy the pattern, but for some reason I rarely carry my whittlers as "free choices". That includes my first whittler, this one from RR.

Nice whittler Gary, those RR whittlers are really well made. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘
Beautiful SBJr Paul, those handles are fantastic. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘
The TC looks great James, but that Tribal steals the show with those threaded bolsters. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘

I complain about the snow and all the shoveling and tractor work that goes with it but I'm actually glad to see it. We are on a well and rely on this snow and any rain we get to supply our aquifer. It's the shoveling that's the worst for me. It makes my worn out shoulders howl.

Well Ed, I’m glad to see pictures. Having grown up in Nebraska most of the snow I saw was on the end of a shovel. First thing my dad did when my brother and I moved out was buy a snowblower and a riding lawnmower.

Case's bonestag makes for an attractive sodbuster

Headed to my son’s basketball game but we aren’t likely to make it on time because we are stuck in traffic on the interstate. I have this one with me today. View attachment 1986549
Got some snow overnight, maybe 4ā€. That’s a lot around here for November. View attachment 1986550
Holy cow 😲
We didn't get any. Be safe on the road.

Well, you made me do it... research the Sod Buster Linerlock. Not that I would wish for one, but that's an interesting version. I have an old, beat up 2138 on the bench right now, getting cleaned up and refreshed.

As we all have grown kids who are now cranking out kids, my three other siblings and I find it hard to all go to Mom ā€˜n Dad’s for Thanksgiving like we always have and love to do. So we’re having a Thanksgiving Dinner today at their house.
I said I’d smoke a turkey, which I did yesterday for seven hours. It’s now in the oven to finish off.
Then, my sister said she’d bring a salad, and I said great ~ let me bring stuff out of the garden.
Then, my brother said he’d roast a bunch of vegetables, and I said great ~ let me bring stuff out of the garden.

Much colder weather is on the way, so I figured I may as well harvest stuff anyway.
I have enough crammed in the fridge to fill a huge cooler, which is fine, because whatever doesn’t get used in today’s meal will go into Mom’s fridge.
But I still have a ton of stuff out in the garden. I picked three gallons of brussels sprouts, and that was only half of what’s out there.
It got down to 29f last night, so I had to go out there in my bathrobe and check on my plants ~ they all look fine, though the turnips were a bit wilty looking. And while I was out enjoying the cool breeze running up under my robe, I took my morning knife photos.
Do me a favor and have a stupendously fine Sabado. I’m gonna.

Edit: forgot to mention that I have had that Chicago Cutlery Traveller folding filet knife since about 19 and 82. ( that’s the way us old guys say it)
Another home run of a Christmas present from my lively wife. (I meant to type lovely wife, but lively works)
I love the way the walnut and brass pins have aged.
Hope all are well and enjoy your time with family.
