Barlows are not only for river boys. My Grandpa grew up a coal miner’s son in eastern Tennessee, and I have his Imperial Barlow. And you’re right ~ in spite of the budget shell construction, it has strong springs, and great snap.

You are right, Barlows are not just for the old river rats. I was referring specifically to the Mark Twain model though. Yes, my brothers and I had our share of various cheap Barlows in our hands in our growing up years. You may have done it previously, but I haven't seen your grandad's. Maybe you would be willing to share an image of that sometime.

I can’t take credit for filleting or even catching this mess. I work with a guy that is a huge crappie fisherman and he keeps me supplied.
Love fishing for trout with fiberglass fly rods and click and pawl reels.
