One of my lifetime memories is from when I was 15. Dad and I overloaded his Suzuki 250, and rode all the way from Illinois to Grand Marais. Got back packs and gear from an outfitter, and took the ferry over to Isle Royale. We spent several days on the trails dodging moose. On the last day, we rented a fishing boat and he piloted me around until I caught an arm’s length lake trout. We wrapped it in newspaper for the ferry ride back to our hotel at Grand Marais, where the chef cooked it for us like we were visiting royalty.
Next was a long loop in the Boundary Waters by canoe.

Thanks Jeff, those are happy memories :) I feel sorry for screened porch screened porch losing his mug, I have one or two myself I would be very sad to lose :( It reminded me of a post-pub evening when I was a teenager though, and one of the older fellers I shared a house with, was drunkenly pontificating about the importance of not being attached to objects. Producing a large pint mug, he proclaimed that it was his deceased father's mug, but that it meant nothing to him, merely being an object. He then violently hurled it into the fireplace, where it shattered into a dozen pieces. As I was getting ready for work the following day, he gave me a pound note, and sheepishly asked if I wouldn't mind calling in the market on my way home, and buying him a mug, as much like the one he had smashed as I could find :D :thumbsup:
 
We'll be headed to town in a bit. It'll take a little longer to get ready to go because I've got to bubble-wrap Cindy. :) Have to stop at the Vet to get meds for Coco and then on to the Wagon Wheel Cafe for breakfast - a Denver Omelette with sausage sounds good and then to the Holiday Market for groceries. I'll be totin this Ebony Sowbelly.
