They certainly used something very much like Bakelight if not not BL itself in the early fifties before the switch to delrin. I had a Barlow with covers like that.

I agree with your comment about Bakelite. I thought the same thing about my Camillus Barlow. I must say however, yours looks nicer than mine.

Just a few hours south close to the Kentucky boarder is Metropolis, IL the “home” of Superman. On his birthday they have a real big to do with movie and tv stars there. It’s a lot of fun.
