What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

As Bob said earlier, I'm tired, applies to me now, as I have spent a good portion of yesterday and this morning cleaning up this old knife. A picked bone New York Knife Company pre-Hammer Brand tang stamp, which I expect puts this Eureka Jack from the 1890-1910 era. Rare to see a clip main on any Eureka Jack. Anyhow, I am glad to add it to my collection and will tote it the rest of the day. 😊

3 and 5/8ths" closed.
That’s interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clip on a eureka. Very cool, Rob 👍
Warm and rainy here with the temperature dropping all day. Probably won’t need this today…View attachment 2075992…but I’ll have it if I do. 😎👍
That’s a beauty, Todd. I’ve got mine with me today too.
Looks like he’s patiently waiting for Sunday, Jon 😁
Yesterday's WW carry. I need to carry this Beer Scout more, and before 5pm - I really really love it!

Today's pocket-ables - went with my green jeans (hey I'm vain like that). T'was a good day the snow was a surprise. Hope Thursdays were good for Porchidians?

So many nice, pocketable fixed blades, FC. I love seeing your fixed and folder combos.

Looking good Pete :) :thumbsup:
I’ve got Merle visiting so I took him out for a beer.View attachment 2076520
Yay! 🍻 :) :thumbsup:
Those two certainly make a wonderful pocket pair; the Big 'Un Rosewood beauty and your GEC 66 both have cool character, too! ;) :cool: 👍👍

I grabbed this old thrifty toothpick and the 4 bladed sowbelly today. :)
Many thanks my friend, that's another wonderful vintage pairing, in tip-top combination :cool: Gorgeous :) :thumbsup:

Hope everyone has had a good week :) Winding mine up with an Old Friend, and a new one :) :thumbsup:

Appreciate it, Bob🙂
Nice to hear Mrs Bob is home!
Awesome Little Valley knife, and Hammer Brand you’ve got!👌

Time well spent. 👌

Thanks, my friend!😉

So how is possible for a knife to get that old and have the bone look like it just left the Rogers Bone shop? 😛

Sorry to hear that, Mr. Smith. I hope things turn around.

Sorry, but you made me think of this…

Thank you, Jeff.
I learned to appreciate these old knives from you and the other gentlemen and ladies here.

Thank you Mr. Primble . I just thought that during February , and it would not be nice outside , I would carry a different Northfield in Stag every day . I am going up the model numbers .
Glad you did not have any damage from the high winds .

Harry

Thank you my friend. A Northfield Stag every day for the month can't be a bad thing ! :thumbsup: 😊

Time well spent. 👌

I think it was too my friend. Won't be too long before you're planting seeds, I expect. 😊

Thank you very much, Mr. Primble!!! I was drooling over your NYKC beauties yesterday! :cool: 😲👍

Thank you J.J. 😊

That’s interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clip on a eureka. Very cool, Rob 👍

It is rare to see and I really like a clip on just about anything. 😊

Looking good Pete :) :thumbsup:

Yay! 🍻 :) :thumbsup:

That horn covered lamb is quite stunning Mr. Jack ! :thumbsup: 😍

A couple more from the NYKC for Friday. I don't tote these very often, but, I don't know why.
The 3.25" closed jack knife is a pleasure to carry in the watch pocket and functions as good as any new knife I own. 😊
I might rub on the bone a bit today to get the mahogany color underneath the dark dye to show up more. 🤔

Those are both beautiful Mr P :) I'm glad you have the box too, very cool :cool: :thumbsup:

Thanks, Bob. :)

Thanks. :)
I agree with you about Staglon, maybe because I saw Staglon long before I ever saw any real stag. Sometimes I think of stag as "imitation Staglon". 🤓

Thanks, Jack. :)

That Navy knife or utility knife or whatever you call the top knife (bail, spear/pen, EO) is an iconic knife, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
That's an impressive-looking sharpening rig you have set up there! What model is it? Are you pleased with it's performance?

That RR Barlow looks great in copper! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Handsome knife, excellent photo! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
What's the little "box"?

Thanks, Todd. :)
Dapper wood duo for you (although there's something fishy about that pen)! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
Speaking of stories, what's the story of that "black map" that frequently show up in your photos?

Cherish the Churchill! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Prestigious pair, Jack! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
I really like the pic of your Big Biscuit stag with the little biscuits. 🤓:thumbsup:

Compelling Case canoe! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, and no charge. :)

Totally agree! Love the smooth profile of a closed canoe, so symmetric and no sharp corners sticking out anywhere! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I was looking at an old catalog recently (I think it was a link @Just Tom. posted) and none of the patterns were "named", just model numbers or order numbers. I actually DID know that another word for "bail" is "shackle", and shackle actually makes more sense to me. :rolleyes:
That's a LOT of wood chips, however you move them! o_O

:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the canoe compliment, Jeff. :)

😁You were born in '56, eh?
That's my wife's birth year, and also the birth year for one of my sisters (sister's birthday is actually today, and my avatar is taken from a photo of her 3rd birthday party). Here's a pic of a birth year sewer manhole cover for you; the knife is a Boker USA electrician.

Welcome back, Tom! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Looking forward to seeing some of your knives on the rocks!

I'm a taskmaster, Bob! :(
Besides, if I can get a couple more years of use from some of these tired old knives, maybe I can squeeze a couple more years out of tired old me! 🤓

Thanks for the encouragement, Jeremy. :)
There are not very many GEC that grab my serious attention, but those 88s certainly do! Sowbelly AND Lambsfoot? Yes, please! :thumbsup:🤓:thumbsup:
