What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

mKPSvcVh.jpg

Another day of totin around these huge knives 🤣 Took the kiddo to a MODOC (Missouri Dep't of Conservation, not our buddy Ed) event at the local conservation area, where a couple of my hippie friends work as rangers. We learned how to make syrup from a tree, ate pancakes with said syrup, ate Pawpaw cookies, wrote with Black Walnut ink, saw wood turning, I threw an atlatl (but hit nothing), and there would have been a cordage class but my friend who teaches it was sick. All the rangers there are amazing human resources, and we always learn so much from interacting with them. Hope everyone else had as fun and productive a day as we did?

Todays carry : Northfield Cotton Harvester and a Natural Stag # 735115 Liner Lock Serial Number 08 . Back in 2015 GEC used Burnt Stag and Natural Stag and sometimes Serialized the Natural Stag and they also put on a UNXLD Shield .

Edited to add an old photo of the Pile Side of the Stag

What are you doing calling these fine old ladies "beaters" Jeff? Heck I was sad to find myself skynt t' other day when someone posted two of those Cami's on the exchange, a fine knife to this day. And I love those bone handles, obviously the knife is in tip top condition ;) Can't say the same for your camera tho. Hope your Saturday is fun too!
Maybe one of these days, I’ll take one of these big ‘ol cigar jacks apart and fix her up with pretty scales.
Or not. These just were never meant to be …pretty😄

See, that’s why I rarely look at the exchange. I might have had to spend money I don’t have🥴

Nice eye candy Jeff ............ I've been searching high and low for such a fine Ebony forum knife ! 😍

This one has taken a harder beatin' than yours has, is older, and still talks back. 😝
It don't complain, however.

One day, eye candy, beaters the next. 1989 vintage beater flip phone, I imagine. ;)🤣🤣🤣
Oh sure. Now that knife has the stigma of being labeled Eye Candy🥺.

Did I ever tell you the story of that knife?
I was on the design team. Back in twenty and nineteen, it was…
Well sort of on the design team. It was kind of a group thing. But I had a say in every little part of it. Ok, nobody listened, but I voted!
Well, actually, every little part I voted for lost. But darnit, I was part of designing it.😏
Hope you can get one, Mr P. It makes a good beater😃

Now this is how I get my fine photos…

You inspired me to get out my old Camillus 14 and put it in my pocket this morning. It's still there.
Took a Western H48B and a Huntsman for a walk too.

Those 14s are nice jacks! And it’s definitely no beater.😗
Case Pruner and Buck 110 on hand while we are digging out some unwanted plants.

If that vine is what I think it is, wild morning glory, aka: bindweed, it will be back🤨

Good solid work knives👌

That’s a day well spent, FC!
The kind of day your son will remember a long time.
I wish I still got the Missouri Conservationist!
Wow, look at this cattle knife! 😃

Well, for my morning quiet time I read the Nahum Commentary from the Dead Sea Scrolls (it's only about two pages long, but an interesting take on the Book of Nahum). Then my wife and I dug up a garden bed in prep for some coming soon planting (see my earlier post today for the knives I carried for that). Then I roasted some veggies and cooked some pork chops and we had my parents over for dinner. After they left we ran up to the hardware store and bought seeds and dog toys and an amber bone Case Mini Copperlock. Now dogs are chewing on their new toys, Dawn is getting ready to knit, and I will read the next chapter of "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" to her. This has been a pretty nearly perfect Saturday. Hope all of yours was as good or even better.

Wow, look at this cattle knife! 😃
Thank you Jeff! 🤠
echoscout echoscout Is that a five blade Craftsman or “High Carbon” jigged bone knife? My great grandad carried one like that but without a shield and I’m thinking it was made by Camillus? Maybe I’m way off…but it’s a beauty, whatever it is!
Yes sir it is. In the right light you can still see the Craftsman Sta Sharp etch. Tang stamp is High Carbon Steel. Made by Camillus.🤠

Looks like you found a good friend in that wharnie Bart. Nice.
Thanks, Bob. I sure have.
Beautiful 🙂👍
Thanks, Jack.

Very nice👍
Thank you for your interest.:)
Here's a pic of the full set of 7 from that particular Heritage Series release. Two single blade clip, two single blade spear and the three spear/pen blade jacks.

Awesome Heritage collection👍 I never did buy one when they were available because I was scared by the mixed quality reviews.
