Thanks, Mr.P! I’ve been called a character as well, but I always suspect it’s less than complimentary.
But at least I don’t bite like this knife. You learn to keep clear of the tip when it goes THWACK.
The answer is always no
I was asked on FB again last night if I wanted to sell this one.
I wasnt offended as its someone ive traded with before who's OK.
But its a no from me.![]()
@Old EngineerPrimble I primarily use a Milwaukee utility knife due to the volume of cardboard we go through every couple of weeks but if all of us are opening and assembling furniture and the Milwaukee is not to be found, I grab this fixed blade from @Markesharp. I know in the past Mark said his heat treat was done by Peters. Marks steel is amazing and this little fixed blade has been cutting down boxes for years now.
We go through anywhere between 10-12 recliner boxes every two to three weeks. We have to cut the flaps off each box so the recycling center has an easier time of getting the cardboard out and into the press for banding etc... In a pinch I'll use whatever traditional I'm carrying for the day if it's only a few pieces. Marks knife is highly sought after as well as his Fish Bone fixed blades here at our store![]()

Are you getting the same rain, freezing rain and sleet we are in SE Michigan or the snow co-workers in Minnesota are getting? Stay safe while out and aboutThey say a positive attitude can shape reality. So considering today’s weather, I’m giving it a try.View attachment 2091916
What a great barlow Jon.
If you want to learn English proper like, you need Terry ThomasWhen I say a knife has character, it is a real compliment. Now if I called you a character, it would mean I thought you were funny or humorous.
THWACK or CLACK is right up my alley !
Good call Johnny.
That is a fine looking fixed blade. Mark is very good with the stag, as well. I haven't seen him around the forums lately.![]()

So suave and casual a pose
Thanks! Welcome to the porch Floyd, there’s no dump questions here as long as it pertains knives. This is a Northfield 23 with Red Spiral Buffalo Horn, I have no idea how Bill did the jigging on these horn covers but I fell in love with it 12 years ago at first site. That's a beautiful knife! I've never seen covers like that before. Would that be considered a type of jigging? Forgive me if that's a dumb question, I'm relatively new to traditional slipjoints. This is actually my first post here lol. Really great photo, as well!
