What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Did you get your predicted 6-10 inches of snow? Where in MI are you located? Here in Grand Rapids, 3-6 inches was predicted, but less than a half-inch ended up on the ground by Saturday morning. You get some nice wildlife shots on your property!
Yessir — got about 8 inches of heavy wet snow here in SE Michigan. Took a real toll on the trees, unfortunately. Glad you like the wildlife photos — we border a nature preserve, so every day makes for some interesting viewing. This morning, a Belted Kingfisher enjoyed his breakfast…😉

Thanks, JB & Rob. :) I actually had more multi quotes, some with Johnny Cash lyrics, but there was too much content to fit into a single post. But when I went to cut the "second half" so I could paste it into a subsequent post, I had the quotes "in the wrong mode" and lost all of the "identifying headers".o_O:mad: But I think I have them all recovered below, along with a few new ones.

A-1 trapper, Bart! Is that full-sized (4+ inches closed) or more like a mini trapper (3.5")?
What kind of geese do you have there? The only geese I ever see in the wild are Canada geese, which are definitely not the same as your white and black ones.

Pretty interesting art, Bob! Best wishes with your Robeson project.

Impressive thematic photo of your Peanut!

Couple of standout knives, Harry; for me that stag Bulldog canoe is "Best in Show"!
I see those knives a-comin'.
They're looking great, my friend!
I ain't seen two knives so fine
Since I don't know when.

Your poll-winning Texas Jack is a beauty!
Don't really know what to say about your fixed blade, since I know so little about fixed blade knives.
When it comes to your handgun,
When I was just a baby
My mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy -
Don't ever play with guns."

So I don't. 🤓

Very nice, Bob!

Jeff & Steve, you each posted an incendiary pair of knives! Jeff's wood-handled knife and Steve's Churchill especially fan the flame for me!
Knives can be burning things,
And they make a fiery ring.
Bound by wild desire,
We all fell in that ring of fire!

Good song! (Weird music video, though.)

Nice stag pair, Jack! But that raffle ticket is no good to you this month, is it? ;)🤓

Ravishing Robeson pair, Bob!

Hey! That's my beer budget "line in the sand", too! I rarely spend more than $9 for a 6-pack or $18 for a 12-pack.

Welcome back, Paul! Stunning stag Conductor (?)

Covetable Case Canoe!

I hope your town gets the roof situation taken care of without too much hassle, Rob.
Thanks for the info about your cat's storm behavior. The cats we've had always strike me as trying to act detached from reality and above it all, but they can get tense and flustered, too, if the circumstances are right (wrong).

Thanks for the info, Mike. Maybe I'll just have to "roll the dice" on one some day.

Thanks for the info. I misidentified your stag knife - sorry. I thought it was another Case mini trapper (with very nice stag for a Case); didn't realize it was one of those long, lean 48s! That's even better!

Top-notch piano key pair, Jer!

Thanks for your reactions, David. Looking forward to the review you mentioned!

That trapper and the Country Cousin you posted recently are a couple of handsome knives, Frank!

Thanks for your kind comments Gary.
For you and all the teachers, I hope this part of the year flies by; it never did for me.

You’re much better at this than I am, Gary. All I had was, I stabbed a man in Reno…

Then I thought about I’ve Been Everywhere, which was covered by JC, and my head started to ache.

Indeed
I was smitten at first sight
And the gentleman seemed equally smitten with my orange 15
Seems we both feel we got the better of that particular trade 😁

The Texas Jack has been a pleasure to carry so far, and I look forward to continuing its use this month.

The fixed blade is a Loveless style "Stiffhorn" made by Mr. Phillip Patton, who is here on bladeforums.

As for the revolver, I can understand some are not interested in firearms. However, like traditional knives, they can carry a lot of history and that is one of the biggest appeals to me. The revolver pictured is an early post war smith and wesson 38 special. Produced around 1950, it predates their current model number system, which would later rename this as a model 10. Also like traditional knives, there are collectors of certain models, certain vintages, certain brands, particular characteristics of certain models, etc.

Drove down to my brothers cabin and hunting property in west central Pike Co. Il for Saturday and half a day Sunday. My two brothers and I spent a lot of time hiking the woods and fields looking for deer shed antlers. Pleasant weather for this time of year and great to be out in the woods again. I had my GEC 43 trapper on the belt in a pancake sheath.

I second that, Bois D'Arc is an amazing tree! Makes the best windbreaks, best fenceposts, best bows, best firewood, great knife handles, and the fruit *might* keep bugs out of your basement, although I've always suspected that to be an old wive's tale. Run your sawblades backwards on this stuff people, and you'll stop smoking blades ;)

Thank you Jon! I rarely get all matchey, but every once in awhile I have a morning where I really have time to get dressed 😅 I generally belt carry my fixed blades. Belt is easier/quicker to draw, and franklyI seem to spend appx. 33% of my time with hands SO filthy that I try not to reach into my pocket for anything. Now if I wear overalls there's no belt to work with, so I have some Northwoods pocket sheaths, or sometimes will slip a sheath knife into the tool pockets on the legs of my Carharrts.
I've been crushing on your jigged bone 38 lately too, I am going to have to try one of those out in that exact configuration.

@Amir Fleschwund (can't even find original message to quote but my memory works sometimes) Of course you are right that I'm sentimental over Grandpa's "El Doctor", I'm a sap like a lot of us I think. Funny thing is that Grandpa wasn't sentimental at all, in fact I found this as leftovers from the garage sale when they finally left their two story suburban home. Grandpa had sold all of the power and hand tools one weekend at a garage sale, then when we showed up the next week to help clean and pack I expressed my dismay and he said " I didn't know you would want any of them." - I had only just started my own household and have been obsessed with tools since a very young age. I loved him and I miss him dearly, but he was a man who seldom if ever thought of others - my Dad has a story about how after 7 years of marriage to my mother, maternal Grandpa sat down at the kitchen table with him and said "So Fred, what do you do for a living?" 😶

Friday, the Beer Scout nearly pays for itself (and I bought it on the secondary market). Look at that tower of super-expensive beer!!! Anytime I get poor and thirsty, this town's got my back. I wouldn't even pay for most of these if I could, as I have determined (through the use of science) that NO beer can be worth over 3$ per bottle - it's just not that much better than a 1.50$ beer. For free they're great though!

I'll have to try your recommendation on the saw blades while cutting osage. I have never heard that and would not have thought of that idea on my own.
I'm also a fan of that brewery. When I wanna treat myself to $3 bottle beer I'll grab a 6 pack of their bourbon barrel ale, so tasty.
Almost forgot to mention that you have nice taste in knives as well.:)

Hello everyone, long time no see! So happy to be here to share this beautiful Sunday mornin on the porch!
Keeping it simple and straightforward with this little 33 … clearing some cobwebs and just stretching my legs a bit …

😎

Nice to see you back my friend and with a fine tote for Sunday. Now pull up a chair and stay for a while. 😍

Stunning! 😎👍
Always unique pairings Mr.P🙀

Thank you Mr. Jack and Mr. Rufus. 😊:thumbsup:

My saws don't have no reverse my friend. ;)🤣 So you put the blade on backwards ?
I really really really like that SAK you're totin' !😍

That's an awesome display, Rob! I would have been running to the basement with it too!
Nice to see that display Mr P, top notch :)

Very much appreciated Gary and Mr. Jack.😊

I had to straighten the tip before polishing out the Dremel damage, but it snapped with a loud PING when I tried it.

I had to put the edge on myself after figuring out how to deal with the Swinden key, which I do not recommend.

It turned out nice Jeff. I have been tempted to straighten out a few tips that are slightly bent and I can always hear the snap or ping before I try, so I don't do it.
I wonder if heating the blade in boiling water might help? Not sure about trying that neither. 😊

Very, very nice, Rob 👍👍👍
Glad you and EJ are relatively unscathed

Thank you my friend !😊

I can appreciate the dedication it’s taken to acquire that collection. Thanks for the view.

Thank you Jeff. 😊

I don’t whack down going into winter, because I like ‘em.

Now that I see them, I don't blame you ............ I like 'em too !😊

I really like that shuttle knife Jer. Who made it ?😊

The bone on this one is to die for.

I concur.😊

Which museum is that in Mr. P ?
Wow, ultra nice.

😲😊🤣

I like those noisy Kingfishers. They fuss at me all the time when I intrude on their fishing territory.😊

Yes, I've been surprised when I've heard of some of the restrictions there :( I'm glad you found somewhere JJ, be great to hear how you find it :)
Here's a morning shot of the target lane. It's actually clear the full length; I definitely let you know how the cool looking Steambow is! :)

Stunning and stately Schrades JJ, I could look at them all day, they look great together  :)
Thank you for your very kind words, Jack!!! :)
Wishing everyone a great Sunday :)
