All steel, all unadorned, altogether the best release of Eurekas. Sensational when GEC released them as it was something of a 'lost' or obscure pattern ; wish they still did that rather than some of the recent whimsy line ; and sensational now  Aways thought that the Greenbone would suit many other Barehead patterns but don't think it's been seen since?

Regards, Will

Totally agree on everything will, Barehead, coping on the correct side ;) In my opinion the best release. I envied your white bone so much it was my main priority for years and finally landed one. Such a great pattern. Agreed on only using that Antique green jigged bone on that release although they used Old green jigged bone on the Tidioute Grinling which to me looks the same. Not sure if there's a noticeable difference between the two color wise but both are a nice cover material. I just rec'd the Grinling I described yesterday and it's in my pocket, need to post a picture before days end:)
Aside from jigging the color sure seems the same;)

Always kind and informative with your replies Gary. Thank you kindly.
Agreed, your mini trapper is a nice size and design for the pocket.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Bob. :)

Thanks, mostly.😏😉 Mr. Miranda. Anything I say about yoga pants can, and will be used against me? 😁

Camillus called it a shackle …
But I suppose you could say it’s a cleviis.
Jeff, you're probably right that if you bring up yoga pants you'll get in trouble. (But you'll get in even more trouble if you bring them down. 😁)
I think I saw "clevis" used in some WW2 military specs for folding knives.

Slim Sunday Schrades.
Both mods. The 766 was rehandled in stag by @glennbad, and the 194 was my effort at combining two I got in a package deal on the auction site. One had a broken blade, the other had a broken spring.

I’ve seen the little 766 called several names online ~ pen, half whittler, even jack and stockman, which it obviously is not. And according to one source, who knows his Schrades, it was listed in old catalogs as a Wharncliffe, even though it does not have a wharn blade.

I’m goung with Dogleg Half Whittler.
Couple of very nice knives, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool:
Before I read your discussion, I was thinking of the stag knife as a "serpentine sleeveboard pen", but now that you mention it, in some old pattern charts I've seen, that frame shape is called Wharncliffe.

That's an enticing Ettrick, Rob!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

5K Qs 5K Qs thanks Gary and I recommend grabbing one of these newer ones as they do seem to be heat treated at a higher Rockwell and even with the kick ground down the sheepsfoot still presents enough that I can still pinch grip it open thanks to the groove.
And I would still caution people that if they have longer nails to be careful not to go too far in the groove as you can catch the groove in the blade behind one

Thanks for the advice, Gary. :) But for my first x318, I'll probably try to find a yellow synthetic CV model, just for nostalgia's sake.🤓

Not at all puzzling why you'd carry that Opinel!:cool::thumbsup:

If I can't get it done with these two, it ain't getting done today.

Looks like you're all squared away with that pair! The HHB stag and the Case amber bone are almost a visual match!:cool::cool:

You must be a good craps player, Steve, because you can sure roll them bones!!:thumbsup:🤓

I haven’t really decided yet. May might end up being a random month with no consistent knife. The Cattle Knife has been a pleasure to carry though.

What I liked:
- The size of the knife is good. I like the steel construction, and it feels very good in my hand and pocket.
- The spear main blade worked very well for cutting up fruit and general daily tasks. The sheepsfoot blade was great for opening packages, stripping wires. Both of these blades opened easily.
- The smooth opening blades with no half stop really made it easy to grab the cattle knife instead of a modern folder. Smooth open, smooth close.

What I didn’t like:
- The Spey blade on mine isn’t as smooth opening as the other 2 blades, even after oiling and working it many times. I also find that this Spey didn’t really fit any of my particular uses. The spear and sheepsfoot got all the work.

I ended up cutting April short, and have been carrying the 2019 Bladeforums knife this weekend. Todays carry:

Stripped a couple wires with the Fall Creek. Cut up some apples and strawberries with the 2019 BF, and the main blade of the Texas Ranger has been opening bags of fertilizer this afternoon.
I appreciate your review of your cattle knife after carrying it for almost all of April; thanks!:thumbsup::cool:

Pocket worn old red bone almost turned into strawberry.

“Get Up Baby, Get Up!”
Sad news. I only knew Shannon as a player for the Cards, and didn't realize he broadcast games for 50 years. My parents gave me a "transistor radio" when I graduated from 8th grade in 1965, and on summer nights all through the late '60s, I'd search the AM dial to see what ball games I could pick up. I could often get KMOX (I think that's right), but IIRC, Harry Caray was still doing Cards games then.

My Sunday chillin around the house carry.
The fixed blade is a Schatt & Morgan and the Whittler is Gutmann 10-135.
I hope y'all are having a fine weekend.
That Black Forest stag whittler is a treasure!:thumbsup::cool:

Thank you very kindly, Gary!!! The NOS 30's blade is very well preserved and super slicey! :D
Thanks for the report, JJ; I was very curious about those old "found" blades when I read about them.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Couple of nice knives to kick off the new month, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, mi amigo!
Now my imagination is telling me that one of those v adjectives would have been “vivacious” if one was a Canoe! 🤔
Yeah, "vivacious" or "vibrant" or "vivid" are all good ones, but for a Canoe, with its nearly elliptical/oval closed profile, I might try to still my beating heart and go with "voluptuous"! 😅:p

Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words Gary, I suspect if I went to the market before the docs, I'd never make my appointment! :D

Good-looking pair Gary :)

Carrying my Hartshead Barlow today :)
...
I'm off to Bulgaria for a week tomorrow, so won't be around much for a while. My Lambsfoot travelling companion will be my Wee Staggy :)
...
Got a SAK Climber along, for the tools...
...
and a Boker Plus/Midgards Messer Little Dvalin for all other eventualities
...
Have a good week Porch folk, and I'll see you when I get back :)
Thanks, Jack. :)
I hope you have a magnificent trip. Looks like you've chosen your traveling knives wisely!:thumbsup::thumbsup: (Very wise not to bring Lucy nearer to Transylvania!🤓) Does Bulgaria use Cyrillic script, and if so, does that pose a problem, or is reading Cyrillic just another item in your cosmopolitan skill set?

Gorgeous morning here, too bad I have to go to work. 😄
Having these two with me will help. 👍View attachment 2173466
I should think they'd definitely help, Todd.:cool::thumbsup: I've asked this question in my mind before, but I don't think I've ever addressed it to you: Is that Case Barlow really an "antique" from the CASE XX era??

My flux capacitor was fully operational this morning.

But I’m back in the present now, so I edited my post 😎.
🤓😁

Thanks Jeremy! 😎👍

Nice knives…View attachment 2173565
:thumbsup:😁 Say it ain't so; certainly Jeff Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund didn't get his rubber ducky from Burt and Ernie!

By chance, on the way to town yesterday, we spotted a Frontier Communications truck at of all places, the Brass Rail Restaurant and I pulled over and let the repairman know our problem with our phone. He pulled out a device from his pocket, punched our phone number in it, and said we'd have our dial tone and service by the time we got home and lo and behold we did. I'll be carrying my 3 3/8" Case 6235 1/2 capped jack again today along with Bunny #525 in my pockets and Buck 055 in it's belt sheath. Sausage and waffles for breakfast.

That's pretty amazing, ED!!:thumbsup:o_O Did you buy a lottery ticket, too? Sounds like your lucky day!

Great clean up job, Gary!
Thanks, Jeff. :) (But I did it almost 8 years ago, and I've been resting on my laurels ever since - they're getting quite dry and compressed.)

Two of my favourites! 🙂👍
Thanks, Jack. :)

Wonderful Wednesday wood! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great looking horn on Little Joker !
Thanks, Steve. :) I bought my first horn Joker in Spain, and it had very uniform blond horn.Several years later, a US dealer sold Joker folders for a while, and I got a couple of horn Jokers from there that I liked even better. One of those is what I posted today.

Thanks a lot Gary :) Bulgaria does use Cyrillic script. When I was a kid, my dad was a chess fiend, and half the books in the house were written in Cyrillic. I know a few of the letters, but that's it I'm afraid. I'm sure there's some app that allows Cyrillic to be deciphered, but I'm not sure I'll bother. I've equipped myself with a dozen stock Bulgarian words and phrases, (plus a dictionary, phrase book, and simple translation app), which I reckon is probably a lot more than most of the European tourists do! :D I might even learn a few more words, but I have no plans to learn Cyrillic! :D Even when I had good Arabic, I could only read and write a few words
