What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Schrade Walden 879. There’s no snap left on the main, but it’s earned a spot in my pocket.75E29B21-028D-454E-BD7D-F63F2CCB8134.jpeg
Klein work knife, which was an extremely used up and poorly sharpened hawk. So I got it for almost nothing, and spent some enjoyable hours slowly reshaping and polishing it into something different. Makes a great utilty knife. I think the handles are real Bakelite.4F93C86D-8D19-4EC6-AFBB-488810FBB0C3.jpeg

Edit ~ I think that was residue for the orange I sliced for the Orioles. The blade looks beffer than that!1A7AC875-B593-4EFA-8BD5-1E9CA29B9B39.jpeg

Wow ~ nice addition for your rotation, Rob. I coulda bought a nice custom knife instead of a new suit, but I had to please Mrs Fleschwund for Mothers Day…
Nice wood on that pair.

Part of being a Man is knowing how to cook. I think you’ve got that naild, John. 🤙

What kind of smoker do you have?

You’re warming my heart with the loving care of that faithful friend, Ed. She looks so happy in that photo. 🥰

Very much like some of the old Mauser bayonets.

Sometimes, like potlucks and church picnics, a fixed blade or long bladed trapper is just the ticket.
I’ve never seen a sharp knife in a church kitchen, and I have been known to put an edge on using the bottom of a coffee mug, but it’s more fun to be prepared.

Nice looking combo, Steve. Hope your weekend was nice.

Most of us here are blessed with enough knives that we have to waffle back and forth. But sometimes the choice is obvious. 🤙

I was wondering why they put that metal band around the middle of the bone until I zoomed in… need more coffee.

If you ever do get motivated, you can stabilize the crack with super glue. All of the online luthier supply stores carry it in different grades, and the real thin stuff is used for things just like that in guitar building.

Super cheerful knife, Greg! I can’t make out the tang stamp, though. Who made it?
Nice Damascus.

Ssh. Your Midnight Manager and Executive don’t neef to hear that.

Hmm. Scissoring the grass with two knives? My knees hurt just thinking about it.

Gorgeous pair, Bob.

Two of my favorite things ~ a nice knife witj patina and black coffee makes a classic posed photo.
One of these days I’ll be able to stomach it black, until then, it’s milk and honey 🍯

Thanks, buddy. I know you find it an enjoyable pastime to clean up an okdie, too. Fixing up an occasional abused or broken work knife really fits my self-imposed fun budget😎

Not okdie ~ oldie🤣

Case knife this week is a mini trapper that was born with a cap lifter, but Jeff black mamba black mamba switched that cap lifter with the spey blade of a sowbelly stockman to make his legendary Beerbelly Stockman, and he generously sent me the one-of-a-kind mini trapper with small spey.

Been using this Cookshack PG-500 pellet smoker for 7 years. Heavy stainless, expensive, but will last longer than I will. It has a small grill directly over the firebox useful for searing etc. Had a small Traeger for a couple years before that but it's too small. If in the market today, would consider a Weber Smokefire 2 or Rectec.

Using a couple of Amazin' smoke tubes on this Cowboy ribeye

Friend gave me some ribs he cooked on a stick burner that were so good it gave me stick burner envy so bought this cheap Oklahoma Joe's reverse flow offset a couple years ago. It's a pain compared to the pellet smoker, constantly feeding the fire, however, the deep smoke flavor is unmatched.

Also have a Santa Maria BBQ style pit that is nothing more than a metal fire box with a grate over it that you can crank up and down. Best tool I have for chicken skin. Wife has a propane grill that hasn't been used in several years. Hoping to move it to the road for big trash day when she isn't looking! ;) Today is spaghetti day and being micarta Monday am using this Charlie Bell BG42 blade with blue line micarta to slice up onions, garlic, mushrooms for the sauce.

Very nice indeed Mr P  :)
Thank you Mr. Jack. A fine pair for Sunday for you !😊
I was reading about your trip adventures ........ 😊:(
Many thanks my friend :) Yeah, a few people have asked me, today, if I went anywhere nice! :D
I saw an article on the news that made me think of you. A teenager thwarted an abduction of his 8 year old sister ...... by shooting the offender repeatedly with a sling shot. I thought ....... Mr. Jack would be proud. 🤔 The police later caught the suspect and charged him, based on his injuries being consistent with sling shot injuries. ;)🤣
Thanks for this, I've already shared it with a few pals! :) What a great kid, one of the US slingshot companies should sponsor him  Over here, he'd have probably got arrested unfortunately! 😠
Thanks, Jack. Whiskey seems to be back to his usual goofy self this morning, so I assume that the sedative has worn off, and adrenalin reserve is restored.
That's good news buddy :)

Welcome back, Jack! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I hope your trip was enjoyable and instructive.
Thanks Gary, there's pics and a write-up in the Guardians thread :)
I've seen it called a side-sword and a machete del monte.

Very cool shot Bart  :)
Thank you very much for your kind words, Jack!!! :)

A wonderful pairing of a couple of US cutters, the beauty and the beast; the 110 was my daily tote for many years in my younger days.:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Spent my Sunday with a couple from Sheffield, the metal marvel is a kind gift from Jack Black Jack Black . :)
Many thanks my friend, it's nice to see your Sheffield Sunday carries :)

Audrey Fleurot as the Lady of the Lake it ain't; it's more like Marie Dressler's Tugboat Annie.
I'll refer to it as Roughneck.
I like the look of that one Jer :)
Mammoth and Micarta for Monday. Have a good one!
