What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Next door neighbor is a day late or just lazy. Dem bins should be gone! Watching the Giants game later and keeping me company will be the usual lamb and my Boker Club. 😀View attachment 2203587View attachment 2203589
Like @Mosoc Ed, I enjoy your trademark Out The Window shot everyday.

Looks like a very nice neighborhood. For city living. 😁
Out in the country, we don’t have to worry about neighbors watching out their windows!
We do chuckle at our friends next door though. Our recycling gets picked up on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. And even though they’ve lived there almost 40 years, they hardly even get the recycling days right. It always makes me look at the date on my watch.

Have a great day in Bagdad By The Bay, Buddy!

Thanks Jeff! The pic is taken from our little front porch. If you’re bored you can do a Google Map search for 465 Ralston street SF CA and see a street level view of our house. Last time I looked I was in the pic sitting in my chair reading.View attachment 2203653

You shouldn't have revealed your address on the open forum. Now you'll have to keep a sharp eye out for trash can pirates.

Speaking of trash, I just realized why mine wasn't picked up this morning. They're running a day behind due to Memorial Day.

Been raining here like crazy. Not an hour after I mowed the back yard yesterday it started raining and hadn't stopped until after we went to bed last night. Headed to town for an appoint at the doctor for Cindy. Gonna travel light and only carry Bunny #525. Lunch at the Brass Rail Restaurant.

No worries Ed. I figure with a 75 pound pit with no sense of humor and lots of things that go bang I’m set. We do have trash can pirates in the guise of scavengers who hit the blue bins looking for cans and bottles every pick up day.

Thank you very much my friend, you are right about that :)

Great pics Jeff, your Sabre Barlow is as nice as any I've seen  Hope you get a great harvest this year :)

Great looking old knife Jeff.
It looks like you have some busy days ahead of you...but the " fruits " of your labor, I'm sure, will be worth the effort.
Thanks, Jack and Bob!
We are blessed with very fertile soil, and I add more organic matter than I take out, so the soil is loaded with microbial and fungal life which interacts with the plants. I always have boxes of surplus to share. 🙂
The garlic and tomatoes were popular last year.

Well, I’m never bored ~ too much fun stuff to do. But I’ll certainly check that out. Last time I checked G.Earth for my place, it still showed the front yard dug up from when i had to replace my septic system junction box. 15 years ago. Maybe it’s updated now.
Truthfully, I think it’s a little creepy. Not that I sunbathe naked, just in a Big Brother Is Watching way.
You remind me of 2012, when I was hospitalized for most of the year. I had a sweet Romanian nurse, who’d become a good friend, and she’d never seen Google Earth. So I showed her how to open it on my Macbook, and we found the house and neighborhood she’d grown up in in Romania. The look on her face! 😃

Better to be early than late, Mike!

I’m praying for rain, Ed. So cutting your grass made it rain? Maybe I should wash my car ~ I hear that works, too.

I know you are very generous with your home-grown produce Jeff :)

Decided to do a Thrifty Thursday.
Back when I was a kid, Sabre was the budget friendly choice for everyday folks who couldn’t spring for an Imperial or Colonial, much less a Schrade, Camillus, or Case. As I recall, there was a display of Sabre pocket knives in just about every hardware store and gas station. My old fish knife is a yellow Sabre that my Thrifty Scot Grandpa bought me when I was 7 or 8, meaning 1965 or ‘66. And I hope to put it to use soon!

Potatoes are taking off after a late start from the cool nights.View attachment 2203560
Some tomatoes getting conditioned outside of the greenhouse. They don’t look very big, but the roots are now filling out in the containers, so out they go. I’ve been holding back because it’s been so chilly at night. Put out 24 yesterday ~ Mortgage Lifter, Dominico (my size champ last year ~ nearing three pound tomatoes), Purple Russian, Watermelon Beef Steak (anew one for me, supposed to produce giant fruits), and a couple Super Sioux and Powers Heirloom.
That leaves nine more varieties, including some paste types, and cheeries. It looks a little crazy, but given that my tomato seed supplier carries somewher around 150 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, some quite rare, I keep trying different ones while sticking with the ones that perform best for me, based on disease resistance, productivity, and above all, taste.
Best tasting? Cherokee Chocolate. That’s what these are.View attachment 2203561
A better photo of the Sabre Grandad Barlow. I think the bone is great. Sawcut and well fitted by Japanese cutlers.View attachment 2203562

Sorry for rambling.🫣

EDIT~ Thrifty Thursday, but it’s Wednesday, aint it? I get mixed up. Still fighting this covid like, but not covid bug. 😬
Good looking start to the crops. Hopefully they yield more than you can preserve
