Happy Birthday Scout! Btw Barrett, did you ever get your knife back? LolToday was my daughter Scout’s third birthday, so I was carrying the #15 Nifebrite that I had with me the day she was born.
![]()
We went out for breakfast, then took her to a little local toy store that our girls love so she could pick out one gift for herself (sort of a birthday tradition we started on Eleanor’s last birthday). We took Scout to her first movie in a theater (The Super Mario Bros. Movie). She did great and enjoyed the movie. This was the first year we didn’t go to the zoo on Scout’s birthday, but we did go yesterday, so…
As always, here is Scout’s “birthday knife” photo recap, along with her new pic from today.

Can you drive a garbage dumpster now Ed?Made a trip to town yesterday with the usual stops, posted a package to San Francisco, CA and as I said I would, I only carried Bunny #525 with me. It's a good knife to carry for luck. If I add a 5 and a 2 I get lucky seven and if I add em all I get boxcars twelve. Well, all that came in handy because I turn eighty in August and my drivers license is up for renewal. I stopped at the DMV and asked when I would get a Notification for Renewal. There wasn't anyone else except the clerks there so one of the gals filled out my application for renewal for me on her computer, administered the written test, gave me a vision test and promptly renewed my license. In and out of DMV in less than an hour. Who'd a thunk it!!!??? Off to town again in a bit with what else but Bunny #525

If I get 30 years of service from my 5OT, I'll be 101!5K Qs
Gary it's a good edc user. You should get plenty of years out of it.
Mine is 30+ & still works good.
Hope you feel better ASAP, Jeff, and if it's COVID, prayers that it's not the long-haul version.Ran the smoker all day at around 200f ~ mostly ash, while I puttered around on miscellaneous garden pleasures. Moving in slow motion, because I came home from those weddings with some kind of damned bug.
Nothing says I love you like showing up to a wedding with a virus…
Anyway, no busting of sod, but the ‘ol Case cut some food.
Most practically minded people know you can quickly and cleanly snap asparagus by hand, but we’re knife people, right?View attachment 2201019

Knives, or at least knife photos, have turned out to be a nice travel souvenir for me!...
I know the feeling GaryI used to travel around Europe a great deal, some years I spent more time in Barcelona than in Leeds, but I have almost no photos, sadly, let along souvenirs

There have been a couple of antique establishments in which I've found some good knife deals, and both have subsequently gone out of business.
...
I don't know if the antique store where I bought the buckle still exists. I'm not sure I ever saw a knife in there, but I'm pretty sure I never saw one I wanted.
They were behind the Paw Paw Brewing Co., which seems to be thriving in bigger, better digs.
Colorful handle on your Case Barlow, Todd!
Outstanding knife and photo, Dwight!
Couple of notable pairs, Steve and David; combined, you have a quartet of high-quality bone!
I'm a fan of knife-on-post photos in general, but when you make it a stag knife AND a can of stout on a post with green grass and blue sky out to the horizon, that's just a stupendous shot!
My falling forward on the 4 stairs leading up to the library is a minor skirmish compared to your falling backward down the attic stairs, Bob!So glad you also survived your battle with gravity Gary.
My motto..would rather burn out than rust. ...My wife says I'm her 8 year old.
Thanks, Gordon, but it sounds like I had a much softer landing than you did; hope you haven't had any lingering effects!Dang Gary, way too many happenings, glad you're OK.
Looks like you're prepared, JJ, with those BSA knives you pre-paired for the pic!
I guess it's excusable to saddle a kid with a name that makes genealogical connections clear.I did see it mentioned, in the Google results I found, that Netherclift was his mother’s maiden name.
For me, basketball involves much less risk than skateboarding; IMHO, you're the wild man! Thanks, Gary. It was an exciting week!
I’m very impressed that you’re still playing such a feisty basketball game.![]()
Nice! They look like siblings, rather than being several generations apart!Over 100 years between them.

Even though I still prefer multi-blade pocket knives, I've gradually come to appreciate single-bladed knives. And your pair is admirable, Bob, especially the top one (GEC 38 pattern, maybe?).I tend to like single blades.View attachment 2202547
Thanks for your concern, Jack....
Good grief, you have been in the wars recently buddy!I'm glad you've not been seriously injured, but please take care. Good that you keep so active
Sounds like you had a good run Gary! That happened to me when I turned 50!

I'm not as excited about trash days asAnother gray start to the day in the City by the Bay! Keeping me company today is the usual lamb and a HJ. Plus it’s Ed’s favorite day!

How long until you plan to retire, F.C.? I wouldn't worry much about gravity fluctuations; by the time you're ready to retire, they's probably have "personal antigravity units" you can wear to protect yourself from all the falling down situations....
I often lament not having enough time to keep up with this thread, and look forward to perhaps being retired someday. Then I heard that last Friday was "gravity day", so I have decided to put off my plans to age. I'd like to thank ya'll for talking me out of it!

Superlative stag!!
I didn't even realize King had written a baseball book! Looks like my public library has it, so I know one book I'll be reading later this month!
Hail to the Victors Valiant! The vote is in https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/what-june-2023-carry.1932432/
Winners of the June Carry Election (by a landslide) are: Bunny Jack and D.E. Jack Canoe

They are residing in my pocket, awaiting use now.
Primary Pocket carry is not scheduled/anticipated to change until 07-01-2023. If some unforseen cutting task that is "beyond" these two comes up (is that possible?), I will add the appropriate knife (if I have one) for the day(s) needed.
Belt carry (2x SAK + LM) and Rollator carry:

Quite correct on the #38 GT.If I get 30 years of service from my 5OT, I'll be 101!That would be impressive longevity for both me and the knife!
Hope you feel better ASAP, Jeff, and if it's COVID, prayers that it's not the long-haul version.
Really like that Sodbuster/asparagus photo!
Knives, or at least knife photos, have turned out to be a nice travel souvenir for me!
Big Rose is an excellent lambsfoot variation, Jack!
Thanks, Jack; always good for me to carry it!

I think GordonOldHercDude posted several of those earlier this week.

Pretty good motto you have, and I think a lot of women are kind of pleased to have a man with a lot of little boy still left in them!
Thanks, Gordon, but it sounds like I had a much softer landing than you did; hope you haven't had any lingering effects!

Ours are for for compostables green, recycling blue and landfill brown.I'm not as excited about trash days as @Modoc ED, but it's interesting to see how different places handle their trash. Looks like your neighborhood has 3 kinds of bins. Are they for trash, recycling, and yard waste (that's what goes in the 3 bins in my city
