Quite the lovely Lambsfoot and Barlow combination you're sporting today; I think I've been to that alien place your HHB rests, somewhere in the Mojave Desert!:cool:o_O:thumbsup::thumbsup:

So there aren't many demolition derby type situations at the skate park? 🤓:thumbsup:

Haha! That actually does happen from time to time, which is why we go early in the morning before it gets crowded. Of course I always have to watch out so I don’t get hit by my son. 😁
Lamb and a Western Castrator for work today.

I haven’t seen one of those castrators before. Very cool. 👍

Thank you Mr. Jack ........ doing well ......... been watching money evaporate from replacing many of my home appliances. 😊😖 Another appointment tomorrow to get an estimate on replacing my central air unit. When I moved here, I bought them all new ......... now it seems they are all acting like they need replacing.😖
I know that feeling Mr P, where everything seems to go at the same time!
Thank you kindly, Jack!!! :)

I grabbed these two wearing micarta to counter a box incursion. :)
No doubt those two beefy beauties butchered the boxes my friend! :D :)

Have a great day everyone :) Carrying my Albers Lambsfoot again, together with something by Tod Cutler for Random Tuesday

Nice pair of knives!
Hard to beat a pait of Remingtons!

Cold Steel, Wright, Case, Marttiini, Brusletto (Thanks Jack Black), Marttiini; for scything the clover heads out front.
...
I'll be wearing my "NOT THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHARACTER" T-shirt.
When my Knives of France order gets here, I'll be adding my replacement tonneu de quatre and my galeam.
Sorry to hear there was a problem with your original 4-blade barrel knife, Jer; I hope the replacement serves you well!

Today's pocket dump (sort of, I don't carry the Viper with the blade out!)

🤓 You're a wise man, Jeff! (Or is it wise guy?)

Old and obscure.

U9ytR9N.jpg
Old, obscure, and quite outstanding!

Very nice pictures, Gary. It was my pleasure passing the Bruckmann to a gentleman who will appreciate it.
Thanks again, Bob. I was happy with the way the pictures turned out, except for the tiny particles of pollen, dust, etc. that I couldn't keep off the knife. It's been so dry here for over a month now that greenish yellow dust coats almost everything outside.

Splendid #88; can't wait to see your carving of the doe!

That's lovely Gary, and a very thoughtful gift :)
Thanks, Jack; you're right on both counts!

Waynorth Lamb and a Churchill

I always encourage everyone to Cherish the Churchill, Steve, but for your ebony WCLF I'll add "Worship the Waynorth!"

A bit of Brimstone today…

Fantastic flaming stag!

I heard some rustling in the grass yesterday and looked over and found this guy cruising through the pasture.

Looks like you're contemplating new covers for your Case, Bart!

There might be a little variance.. Now that I think of it, some do seem early. Probably due to the weird spring we’re having. Even though daytime highs have been hitting in the 80s and higher,, as recently as a week ago, nights were chilly.. And it’s quite dry.
Very dry here for the past month, at least. I just checked the National Weather Service website for Grand Rapids, and May 2023 was the driest May in my lifetime! 0.84" of precipitation (compared to an average of 3.42" for Mays since 1951).

Its a Canal Street Pinch lockback, Gary. IIRC the handles are called "Ribbon Candy Mica Pearl" It was an SFO for A.G. Russell.

Thanks for the ID, Mike. I've heard of CS Pinch lockbacks, but I obviously can't recognize them "in the wild". Speaking of wild, that's a wild handle on your knife. Missing a shield?

Here's my CS Pinch for today. Found out all the CS Pinch knives were made by Eric Albers, which means they are special to me. He told me it was quite a discussion to get Wally to agree on these scales, but AGE jumped on them right off the bat.
Thanks for the additional info!

Some of you may recall that I rented and used a Tree Root Exposer ("rototiller") on my front yard last Saturday, until the dumb rental broke. Rented another one today (I actually think it was the exact same one, post-repair) and it worked great this time.
Here is the awful machine:

That's one of the good ones. If you want one that'll beat you half to death, try a front tine tiller.
Tyson, your post is dredging up memories I've repressed for over 30 years from when I rented a front tine rototiller (and broke the first one) to tear out the scrawny lawn in our side yard so my wife could turn it into a butterfly garden. Definitely a fight, man vs. machine! What is the pipe running through the yard that's visible in the pic of your wife with her pick?

Those rosewood HHBs are handsome devils, Vince!

Thank you very kindly, Gary!!! :) Love your German horn covered pen, BTW!:thumbsup:
Thanks, JJ.

Thanks for all the kind words Gary :) Big Rose worked like a charm on the big thistles, even hacked down a 3 foot Sycamore! :D I didn't have anything else on me, and thought I'd give Rose a try :D

Thanks again my friend :)
...

Have a great Sunday Porch folks :) Double Albers for me today :)

z2d5FcE.jpg
Yowza! I hope the sycamore was 3 feet high, not 3 feet in diameter! That would be quite the challenge for Big Rose (and you)!
Double Albers is an impressive carry (and presented on a Henderson's background, no less)!

Carrying some black today ( with some help from Jackeywax31-Bruckmann).
I hope everyone can have a relaxing Sunday.View attachment 2207148
Brilliant Bruckmann, Bob, and a notable pair!

Poor health, a negative prognosis, and a poor quality of life beckoned DirtDawg Bella down the trail to the other side yesterday morning. May she rest in peace. My little trail buddy will be sorely missed, but I will cherish the memories of the past 13-1/2 years of her companionship. I hope it's true that all dogs go to Heaven.

Sounds like you knew it was coming, but still a tough time, especially after over 13 years together. You have my condolences!

Oooof. That Mohawk is special, love it
Thanks! One of my favorite knives, and this is probably my favorite photo of it:
mohawk.mark.main.jpg

Stellar stag, LT!

That’s the most lifelike carving of a turtle I’ve ever seen! 🤣
😁🤓

Thanks for the info Gary and the chuckle.
Have a good one.
You too, Bob.

Thanks Gary !

I wonder if these blades were left over blades from WW2 knife production. I know Kingston made some for the Army.
I think Kingston was originally started in 1943 solely for military knife production. The first post in this thread has a lot of interesting info about Kingston and relationships among it and Ulster, Imperial, and Schrade:

Sorry to hear there was a problem with your original 4-blade barrel knife, Jer; I hope the replacement serves you well!
It was a small but serious fitting issue that showed up in use with lateral blade play. Stephane at Knives of France {shameless plug} exchanged it no problem, and I trust Sabot took it back no problem.
ZecppJQ.jpg

It is a well planned and built knife, but is not for those who can't stand to see light by a backspring. The small blade thunks open nicely, but much of its walk is stiff and it needs to be pushed closed. I'll be interested to see if it loosens up over time, but I don't mind if it doesn't.
I've sprayed it well with PB Blaster, followed by gun oil. Then I plunged it in microwaved vinegar to get a thorough, light patina started. (Even the bolsters are carbon steel, though I'm not sure about the springs.) Then a good wash in soft water and dish detergent, then 3-in-1 oil. (There's no oiling principle at work there; there's just gun oil on the workbench and 3-in-1 in the kitchen.)
I'll show it off at the farm Wednesday.

Yes the shield is gone. There is also a very fine crack running through the handle where the shield should be and various gouges and a couple of small chumks gone. Somebody rode it hard. I fished it out of the bay for 30 bucks. Cleaned it up (a lot) and its got decent action with a solid lock up. A big plus, unlike a Case I recently posted in the Case thread, is that it's not, "Too pretty to use" ;)
