What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

SAK of the Week is a Cadet 2, with a pen blade instead of a nail file. I like this old model more than the current Cadet.

Stockman of the Week is a bone Buck 373 Trio. I think it's the first knife I bought when I came back to pocket knives in January 2014 after 45 years of not carrying a knife. (The Trio was in the same Walmart clamshell pack as a Buck Solo that I gave away years ago, since, at the time, I had almost no use for single-bladed knives.)

Excellent.👍🏻
They’re everywhere, and 99.999% of people don’t bother with picking them.
Besides the canes in back, on the overgrown border with my neighbors on the south side, and out front in my wildflowers, I still can’t help myself, and pick across the road and around the pond that we jointly own with the other 19 houses here. Never seen anyone else berry picking.

Seven quarts in the freezer, and they are out there ripening as I type.
I reach a point when I get a little tired of it🤪

Awesome! I miss living in the Ozarks, and poking around in the woods for things like huckleberries and morels.
Storebought blueberies can’t compare.

Good knife, too!

I’m no expert, but that sure looks like a rebuild to me. Lack of shield, the way the bone is fitted and pinned…
Not bad looking work, though.

The lack of snap is the worst part, though.
Not sure what can be done.
Maybe you want to bust it apart, learn how they fit together, and do a better job of putting it back together? It’s not like you’d be messing with an unmolested antique.

Or just use it! 😎
At this point, I'm leaning toward putting a satin finish on the blades, sharpen it, lube it, and use it.

I am still fascinated with the vintage knife from the antique mall. It looks like a gec clone made a long time ago. It reminds me a 68 pony jack from gec. Here it is next to a 66, and a 15. Happy 4th!

I'm not surprised, it's stunning 😎 Great compliment to GEC 👍
You too Bob 😊 Fabulous pair 😎👍

Like a lot of my fellow Guardians, my choice of knives this week has been influenced by the sad news about about our brother @cigarrodog , and today I'm carrying an old Alfred Blackwell that was gifted me a few years back by @rockman0 :thumbsup:

CdRAPFT.jpg

Pairing it with one of Eric's Jacks, gifted to me by my friend @btb01 :) :thumbsup:

Grand gift knives, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks Gary, I enjoyed listening to "dem bones" 👍
:thumbsup:🤓

But how are we doing on annual average precipitation?😁
At least it won't be death-dry for the fireworks.
Looks like the total for first 6 months this year is about 0.4" above average; this is for the NWS station in Grand Rapids, with average computed since 1951 - I just chose my birth year as the starting date. March 2023 had the highest March precipitation over those 70+ years, and May 2023 had the lowest May precipitation for the period, and apparently balanced out one another.

Going with a Case Mediterranean Blue Bone Peach Seed Jig Canoe today.

Beautiful shade of blue on your lovely canoe! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Sad circumstances, but it was nice to see him post 🙂👍
:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary....we are the hippest kids in town. Enjoy your holiday.💥💥💥
First time I've been included in "the hippest kids in town." 🤓 Thanks, Bob, and I hope you have a Fabulous Fourth, too! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Our rainfall turned out to be closer to 1.25” last week. I might mow today.

Another quarter inch the other day helped, but I still have to water the garden.
With another almost 0.9" later in the week, and the highest humidity of the summer so far, I suddenly have a back yard full of fungi! o_O
Great to get the rain!

Gonna have a relaxing weekend and 4th of July. Nothing planned unless a niece calls and asks us to a BBQ. I was gonna carry a yellow composite covered Sowbelly today but realized it's Black Friday so, I'll carry this Sowbelly covered with Black Curly Maple instead. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

You have a sowbelly for every occasion, ED! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

The hollyhocks are blooming.

Nice sodbuster! :cool::thumbsup::cool: I've never picked up one of the big models, even though I've been pleased as punch with the Junior models.
Nice hollyhocks, too. When I was a kid, we had hollyhocks growing by the abandoned outhouse east of our farmhouse. My brothers and I would occasionally urinate in the outhouse just for fun in the summer.
Hollyhock Lane Parade starts a few blocks from my house in 2 hours; neighborhood parade held every Independence Day since 1934.

(Hollyhock Lane is just an alley.)

Notable pair! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I'd have a hard time choosing a favorite, although I'm leaning toward the bottom one.

Awesome Rufus1949!! Thank you.
That was out of Goins Encyclopedia of cutlery markings.
Very cool detective work! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

But it really irritates me to pay full price on something and have the retailer send me a display model. Bad form.
Doesn't seem right! :thumbsdown::(

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend :thumbsup: Carrying my ebony Charlie Lamb, and a H10 gifted to me by @Reaper AL :) :thumbsup:

Your ebony WCLF is a super-hero, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Needs a little love for the edge, on the plans for today🤗
Majestic muskrat! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Gary. Nice scales on yours. Got mine in the pocket again today.
Thanks, Vince. :)

My brother came by to help me move and also brought his pocket knives in various states of disrepair for me to work on. The other issue is now I need a copperlock!
Your brother has good taste in knives! :thumbsup::cool::cool: The copperlock is a beauty, the patina on the back springs of the black Case is very cool, and the stag on the top knife is impressive!

Have a great Saturday!View attachment 2237138

World-class whittler! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

I will go with maybe/ maybe not.

Thanks for your gracious comments Gary.
Now that you mention it, the Winchester has some of the lines of the forum knife.

It turns out the Hibbard is well preserved and an enjoyable carry.

Have a great 4th.

Commendable covers on that duo, Steve! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Trip to Claydon stately house the first this year.
Then over to a bike shop to collect the mug I won in a raffle.

That zippered Corsica pouch looks very useful! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Glad the Moore Maker is to your liking Gary 5K Qs 5K Qs . The covers are indeed Smooth Black Bone. The trash bin makes a good background for it. :)
Thanks for the confirmation and compliment, ED. :)

Eric Albers Lambsfoot and a Jose Antonio Herreros Vendetta :thumbsup:

Striking American lambsfoot, Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
I like the background of your Vendetta photo, but I'll not show it to my wife, since it will just support her "knife as weapon" misconception. :eek:

First time taking a Telecaster to church. Pray for them.
🤓 Do you have a "guitar hero" you admire or even try to emulate, Jeff?

Where I grew up, deep south, we called those blackberries. Being up north, I have heard them referred to as black raspberries.
Technically, "blackberries" and "black raspberries" are not the same:
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/black-raspberry-vs-blackberry
When I was a kid, we had a big "thicket" of raspberries, both black and red, in part of the front yard. Never enjoyed the bloodshed of raspberry picking. 🤓
