Excellent.👍🏻
They’re everywhere, and 99.999% of people don’t bother with picking them.
Besides the canes in back, on the overgrown border with my neighbors on the south side, and out front in my wildflowers, I still can’t help myself, and pick across the road and around the pond that we jointly own with the other 19 houses here. Never seen anyone else berry picking.

Seven quarts in the freezer, and they are out there ripening as I type.
I reach a point when I get a little tired of it🤪

😎

Wow, that's a heck of a haul !

I need straw and spoiled hay, lots of it. I’ve been buying oat straw from a farmer north of me for several years, and the lady told me “no, we don’t use any herbicides in the oat fields.” But last week, I went to get four bales (that’s what fits on the roof rack of the Subaru), and when I opened the barn, I saw a big sprayer wagon with two 250 gal. tanks sitting there. Then I looked out at the beautiful oat field ~ huh! NO WEEDS. I left without taking any.
A couple of bales I already have, covered with horse manure and compost, are growing fungus (Good, because fungus breaks down the straw real well), but before I use it to mulch my vegatable beds, I’ll test it for herbicides by planting peas and beans right in the top. They will germinate fast, but they are sensitive to herbicides, so they will tell me pretty soon if it’s safe. If the leaves curl, I’ll dump the straw in the woods. The Big Ag companies are really pushing their persistent herbicides on farmers, and organic garderers are getting lots of contaminated hay, straw, and manure. 🤬
Meanwhile, I planted my squash in these bales, and they seem to be doing ok. I bought a dozen bales last fall, and covered them in manure and compost, and watered the hell out of them to break them down.View attachment 2239324View attachment 2239326
Maybe the straw’s not contaminated with herbicides???
Sorry for rambling…
Here’s my other knife for the day~ Ideal Products, Solingen, Germany.

The pole beans are reaching for something higher than my 7,5 ft. T posts. Next year I’ll have to go back to cutting willow poles and really let them climb.

Y’all go on and have a fine Monday! Before it gets too hot, I’m putting on a heavy long sleeved shirt, and pushing into my biggest black raspberry patch out back. Then I need to dig up a garlic, and see if it’s ready.
I promised some bulbs to one of the girls at the gas store who wants to try growing it for next year. And I still have some tomato plants to give away. 😜

Great pictures !

Ellis Wyatt Ellis Wyatt I always love your pictures, and of course the knives. Just felt like you deserved recognition for your thoughtfully chosen backgrounds. You have many gloriously rusty things to set your corrosion-free steel upon. 😉
Thank you! I appreciate it. I do have quite a few rusty tools that get brought into pictures sometimes. This is a little more appropriate for this afternoon away from work though.

Very Happy with this Jack Wolf Big Bro Jack since its arrival a while back. It slices so good the blade to my untrained eyes is a cross between a full flat grind and hollow grind. It’s very thin behind the edge so you can make figure eights with receipt paper 😲 . I’m very impressed with the fit and finish also. The walk and talk is incredible she is snappy to like a bear trap but with the best of both worlds. Being able to open with the nail Nick without doing any bodily harm lol. My preference although is to pinch it open since there is a lot of real estate to pinch easily. Also completely flush at the half stop on the back strap and all positions open or closed doesn’t matter. No side to side play whatsoever!
I know this is a modern traditional but it’s a fine one at that and just wanted to share my thoughts.

That looks mighty tasty, cooling and refreshing except the kiwis. I am allergic to the hairs on the skin. My throat clamps shut within a few seconds. Only developed this in the last five years. Used to eat the regularly
