What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Grabbed my favorite b&m peanut this evening to go out, and reminded myself of what a stellar piece of cutlery it is. This 70+ year old celluloid hasn't even thought about gassing, the F&F of the covers to bolsters is near perfect. 6 pulls, smooth, crisp and snappy!

Thank you very kindly, Jack!!! :)

Big Rose will bring you beauty, even in a seemingly parched environment! A bit of that weather is moving my way...:cool:o_O:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I'll keep an eye out JJ, maybe that old guy will empty his garage of them one day ;) I have seen Trappers, Stockman, and Barlows in the past

Thank you my friend, I hope you get the weather you want :)
It sounds like a tasty trip! 😋 Have fun at your Leeds Market Day!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank you very much JJ :)
Grabbed a couple wood wearing Barlows also carrying the same DNA. :)
Congratulations on the new addition, which pairs nicely with your faithful fractal ;) :)

I see where a few of you was wondering if I'd kicked the bucket or gone on to greener pastures 😊 ....... I have been going from one maintenance project to another around the house and have made a lot of progress catching up on things that I should have taken care of a while back. Right now I am currently filling cracks and larger problems with my driveway. The forecast is rain so I can't work on it today. I don't like to post if I don't have time to look at your knives and respond ...... so that's my excuse for being MIA. Today I'm totin' my Schrade Cut. Co. Jack and my old KA-BAR-LO. 😊

You always post beautiful photos, thank you for sharing them. But, some of my favorite knife photos are taken during hard dirty work. Drop a knife down next to a driveway crack full of wet tar and you've got a masterpiece. I wish I had more time to comment on posts, all I can do sometimes is ""or "😍" them and get back to work. Glad you're doing ok.

Wow thanks for sharing that gem 😳 Sounds like the inspiration for Pennywise? Hey kid, you want a balloon?

Really fine lookers, and complete assortment of blades to use.🤙
Our little dog Gandalf has a scoop of canned pumpkin every night as an appetizer, then gets frozen broccoli, carrots, green beans, or peas nuked and mixed into his kibble. In the morning, I usually mix fresh asparagus, carrots, broccoli, or green pepper into his kibble. (He ate all his kibble this morning and refused all the baby carrots I sliced up for him this morning - I guess the carrots are not fresh enough anymore.)

Jeff, I don't think you should worry about repeating stories. I only have 4 stories, so if I stay anywhere for more than a week, they hear ALL my stories repeated! o_O

Crossword puzzles are enjoyable and probably effective for mind-sharpening, but for me, they're quite time-consuming. Have you ever tried Ken-Ken? That's fun and relatively fast. (I usually play the 6x6 version, and I'll complete 2 or 3 puzzles over the course of a day, 5-10 minutes for each.)

I only buy the high end kibble for Manny, and for years have been cooking and chopping up some chicken, or other trimmings like salmon skin, etc. My early attempts at anything vegetable failed. Lately, I’ve been adding chopped vegetables out of the garden, and cooking them in a dollop of bacon grease. Finally getting healthier stuff into him, and I hope the fat doesn’t hurt him.

Thanks for that link. I don’t have that kind of sitting around time, because when I open up Blade Forums with my morning coffee, I find I’m 5 or 6 pages behind just in this thread.

The “free” apps always make me back away when I read their fine print under Privacy. Why do they want access to my location, all my photos, contacts, e-mails, etc?

Even though they’re not off gassing, do you segregate your celluloid knives?
Turns out I’m going to be here until October. It’s the only knife/slip I brought, so at least I picked a good one.
Is that when you set sail, Jon? October?
Nothing lowly about that craftsmen whittler, Jeff. I like the working mans size of that knife, plus the blade combo and shield. It's a good one! 👍
I agree on all your points about the 804. I got the Craftsman with help from another member ~ The Chunk, I think, who sent me the auction link. It was very stiff and a real nail breaker, so I believe it was never used much. I broke it in, but then Ron gifted me the Schrade, which is a lovely, smooth opening user, so that’s the one I tote more. Plus, it’s nice having a memento of @Half Stop!
Grabbed a couple wood wearing Barlows also carrying the same DNA. :)
What kind of wood is that, JJ? It’s nice!
I find myself on the lookout for aquatic rodents in the garden while sipping coffee. Am pleased w newest additions to my little collection, a large stockman and this double clip point darling, thanks to @Bloodloss for the tip

Mice that fall into your pool?

Welcome to what we call The Porch!
Are you in Brazil? Your name indicates that.
Since it was raining yesterday, I pulled the Cub Cadet into the garage for an oil change. If it rains tomorrow, I’ll pull the blades and sharpen them and clean the deck. It’s much filthier than yours.
Two Whittlers today.

Stunning Redbone, Rachel. 👌
We're headed South about 120-miles to Susanville, California today. They have a "Tractor Supply" and I need to pick up some ratchet straps, spare trailer wheel, trailer tongue box, and other things. We'll grab a Subway breakfast sandwich on the way out of town. This'll be a good carry for a road knife and a trip to "Tractor Supply".

I buy my jeans at Salvation Army thrift stores~ usually $9.00 for a pair of newish Wranglers aint bad. But I hear that Tractor Supply has their own line of blue jeans that are pretty good.
Roasting some coffee today with this 86 in pocket. Coffee is Colombian FT Organic Cauca AMUCC Women's Coop.

I’m still totin the Camillu 68, and I always have this SAK on me lately, the little hawk is perfect for snipping off the suckers on the tomatoes. Still have not needed the wood saw, but ya never know!
Here’s another Shagbark Hickory seedling, planted by the tree rats in my perennial bed by the front door. I have to move it before it’s tap root gets too deep.DA073DA5-3A19-4C5A-BA51-3B80C07AA8E0.jpeg
II don’t usually make it to the monthly flea market, but when I do, usually the only thing I buy are old files. They are very good carbon steel. New ones made overseas are junk.
A few years ago, I made this knife out of one of those files, and handled it with some kind of Hawthorn that I cut down for my brother in law. The file steel laughs at drill bits, so I annealed the handle section to be able to drill the holes. Home made sheath out of heavy leather.
I wanted to do something nice for a friend, so I gave the knife to him. A few weeks later, he gave it back. He said he’d never use it. He’s kind of strange. I don’t know if he didn’t like my weird design, or if it’s just his bi-polar personality acting up, but I’m happy to have it back. I made it to be used, so I’m using it.BD49C51F-AB16-4D8B-9B09-14CD592476E9.jpegB19107CD-CF14-404B-9A43-914154A1A055.jpeg

Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! And to think I had to turn the furnace on this morning when it was 62 in my house. My daughter is coming in tomorrow from NOLA and I know she’s looking forward to natures AC. She and my wife are going to see Dead & Company on Sunday. I’m passing on that one as I’ve seen the Dead many times. Keeping me company today is the usual lamb and SAK. 😀

The tour guide suggested that may have been the inspiration for Pennywise. He said Stephen King has lived in Charleston a few times, and admitted the inspiration came from a town he once lived in. 🤷‍♂️ It made for a good story on tour anyways.

Thanks Jeff. I do believe that’s one of two knives I tried out a forced patina on with. I like it, but it made me feel like I was cheating on apples, strawberries, baked potatoes, and juicy steaks.

As for the edge…the barlow came from Case looking like a left handed blind beaver ground in the bevel. Took a minute to get that one straight. Thanks for your compliment. It validates my efforts and consternation.

Oh regarding aquatic rodents I don’t think we have any muskrats here in Sweden, at least not that I’m aware of. I’ve got squirrels in the garden and if they fall into the pool then perhaps they qualify. Still I’m not going to un-fur them, I’m a peaceful guy, but the knife triggers my imagination 😉
