What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Sorry Ed I didn’t get my pic this morning until after the recycling truck came by to empty the blue bins. Not much going on today Giants game later. Keeping me company will be the usual lamb and a Boker.

Ahhhhhhhh. Chaos among the trash bins. It's garbage. Chaos is good for garbage. Neighborhood looking good Dan sf fanatic sf fanatic

Thanks for that link. I don’t have that kind of sitting around time, because when I open up Blade Forums with my morning coffee, I find I’m 5 or 6 pages behind just in this thread.

The “free” apps always make me back away when I read their fine print under Privacy. Why do they want access to my location, all my photos, contacts, e-mails, etc?
I don't have a smart phone, so I never download any apps, free or otherwise. I play that Ken-Ken puzzle on my laptop and don't have an account so I don't sign in or anything, although I'm sure they're serving me inedible cookies even while I play "anonymously". I'm pretty good at ignoring all the ads that surround whatever I'm really interested in on a given website (at least I'm not as distracted by ads as my wife is).

Wharncliffe trapper today.

Really like that photo, Bart! The knife is fantastic, of course, but I really like the way the ear tags "pop" on the cattle in the background.

Nice custom! And gotta comment on the Fender pick. I don’t use picks anymore, but if I did, I’d look for a medium in that color!
A lot of the old Fender colors were Dupont Automotive colors that Ford and Gm were using in the ‘50s. When I put together a Strat from parts, used a torch and scraper to get the poly off, and mixed up my best imitation of Seafoam Green in nitrecellulose lacquer. And my next scratch built Tele will be Seafoam Green, too..Love that color on guitars, old Ford pickups, and Chevy Bel Airs.
I took our dog for a 2.5 mile walk Sunday morning, and when we were almost home, I took a short detour to see if an old camping trailer I'd previously seen parked on the street a couple of blocks from my house was still there, since some of its "siding" was quite close to your Seafoam Green. But it wasn't there, so no photo for you. But the detour took the dog and me past the house 2 doors south of us, and I heard their dogs barking as we walked by. I looked that way and suddenly one of their dogs, a medium-sized muscular-looking black-on-white beast, got through the gate somehow and headed straight for us at high speed. I pulled my little dog up by the leash (clipped into his behind the front legs and over the chest harness) to about knee height, swung him away from the other dog's charge, and managed to kick the attacker in the chest as I yelled at it to go home. Fortunately, the attacking dog actually headed back to its yard, not realizing I was a geezer not fast enough to be able to kick him again if he just persisted in his attack.

Similar but different for today. :)
Love the reflections in the horn covers, JJ. I inadvertently did that while trying to take a photo late one winter afternoon:

Terrific twosome Gary :)

Think this Albers Lamb will be enough for me today :) Have a great Sunday everyone

Lovely Lamb Gary !
Thanks, Jack and Steve. Jack, what Steve said about my lambsfoot goes double for your Henderson Lamb!

...
Thanks Gary, I was very pleased with the results.

I worked every summer while teaching with a custom woodworking friend or at the ironworks.

Enjoy your Sunday Gary.
Bob, my summer jobs tended to be teaching gigs that I'd manage to line up: regular college classes taught during the summer, professional development workshops for local elementary school teachers, math camps for middle school kids, ...

Budget tortoise for Stockman Sunday...

I like Rough Ryder's fake tortoise, and I love RR's medium stockman, so I'm a fan of what you posted (although I guess you're more likely to show a small, rather than medium, stockman?).

1972 Case 61048 barehead serpentine jack. Or Slimline Trappee, if you prefer. 😊View attachment 2253846View attachment 2253847
AAPK has a section on their website with info on all the Case patterns, and apparently that knife has also been called a Farmer Knife.

Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Looks like it’s going to burn off early but in my neck of the City it’s been known to clear and roll back in an hour later. Went down to Redwood City yesterday evening to see our new granddaughter and it was a bit warmer down there. No big plans for today. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! Keeping me company today is the usual lamb and the Modoc Special! 😀

That's one of my favorite old Peanuts strips that they ran in your paper Sunday. Linus is quoting Job 38 from the Bible, where God is basically telling Job to remember whom he's dealing with.

Carried this today. Queen City mini trapper. After being on vacation for two weeks and then playing catch-up with stuff around the house this week I thought I might take some time to get caught up on this thread.

After looking I’m 93 pages behind so I might need to either work on it this week or just forget about the ones I missed.😂View attachment 2254185
Outstanding jigging on that knife!

We thought about "endeavor to persevere" for a long time. Then we declared war.

I wound up with these three at church.

Thanks, Gary, it's hard to beat a good ol' Schrade. Today I went with some nicely jigged green bone from Germany.

Notable pair, Greg! I only have 3 GEC models, but one of them is an OD micarta 72 - fantastic knife. And I also have one (or maybe more) of those RR spear main whittlers that I also like very much.

Cherish the Churchill in Chains!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Some Tony Bose designed Case production stuff for this week.

I think I know that song, Born Under a Bad Sign, from a cover version by Cream. But a variation of the line also shows up in the Gloom, Despair, and Agony song on Hee Haw on TV; I might have heard it first there. Interesting info on how far back the saying goes:

It's usually trouble when somebody says to me, "I've got a bone to pick with you." But picked bone is a very good thing for your pair of knives, Rob!

The only other one I've seen is yours :)
I have these other two 54's with serrated speys and jigged bone. I find it interesting that the serrated blades of these two are different than the one in the rosewood.

Nice triplet!

Mine has no markings, and I had a hard time reasearching it.
Just don’t see many, if any with the serrated spey. Lots of 54s, though.

When I get home, I’m gonna put the SAK in my left pocket, and tote my Case.😎

My desk top and Macbook lap top are dead weight now.they quit supporting them years ago, and I just use my phone for everything. For several years, I only used the desk top for taxes and printing music charts for church. Now, I use an accountant, and at my new church, all the music is prepared for me.

Anyway, there’s no such thing as a free app. If you’re not paying for it, you are the product.

Cream, or more accurately, Eric Clapton, copied Born Under A Bad Sign from Albert King ~ one of my all-time favorite guitarists.
Back in the ‘70s, I spent countless hours guitar in hand playing along to both Albert and Eric vinyl. Lifting the needle, and trying to cop the guitar work. Lots of others, too…Allman Brothers, Jerry Garcia, Albert Collins, Elmore James…😁

I’m glad your testosterone was sufficient to intimidate that dog! I despise people that can’t be bothered to secure aggressive dogs.

All these superb guitarists better come with some great harmonizers.( the men's room at my high school had them every day!).

As a matter of fact, it was your RR tortoise canoe which got me looking for cheap inexpensive tortoise in the first place. And I'm coming to appreciate (slightly) larger knives these days. I'm carrying a Case medium stockman today and I have two Buck medium stockmans. That said, my favorite at the moment is the 3" Case small swell center jack.
