What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Dad's knife today. Taking a new pic of it with some of his other stuff made me feel closer to him.

It should really be a knife in my absolute favorite steel, 13c26,
but instead it's my new CSC Barlow in sunset smooth bone, serial#21, and 14-4 CRMO steel.
Pretty good, and feels great in the hand.

My grandad's Schrade. Seemed appropriate on Father's Day, because he gave me so much in the 10 short years we had together. Not only did he teach me many skills, and give me a love of pocket knives, he raised a first born son who showed me (and still does) how a good father lives his life. To this day my Dad is one of my best friends in this world, along with my son (who surprised me by coming home for the day).

I don't usually care for yeloow or yellowish handle knives, but that is a beauty. Wonderful story to go with it.

Tell us something about that one gevonovich. - Ed J

Thanks for asking Ed. I just got this the other day in my price range.

Its a appox. 1940s Schrade Cut Co 3 & 5/16th equal end pen, brass linings, nickel silver bolsters,#7784 3/4 YB ( it has a brother... the 7783 3/4 B). Its synthetic slabs (mottled horn celluloid in catalog) are cracked on both sides but they are tight. No use that I can see other than stored poorly. You can still see the original mirror finish on the blades and its got some wonderful swedges. Both have great snap and no wobble.

Closest I'll ever get to a salesman's sample.

I hope to see more Salesman samples in my Jobbers thread from the more accomplished collectors.

Thanks for the info. It sure has great bones.

I got in the mood for tinkering today and went at this old Wenger. Scissors are pretty useful, as is the nail file. The blade, too, of course. But the opener layer wasn't doing anything for me, so away it went. Now it's a pretty handy and slim carry. Kind of a nod to my Dad who is famous for modifying things to suit his own tastes.

I picked this one up out of the mailbox today. It was shipped Thursday and I wasn't expecting it yet. I mailed a knife to California on the 3rd via Priority Mail and it was not received until the 11th. You never know.

Thanks, Kennywoo for selling me this wonderful pocketknife. My first knife with bocote covers, but not my first houndstooth.

I like it and it looks perfect.
