What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This Menefee backpocket came in the mail today, purchased from forum member Geode (great seller BTW).
It seems to be an early model with an interesting sort of rounded profile to the back spring.

Really like that. Like that a lot. Beautiful piece carter.

I'm sure you're pleased with your Böker! In my experience, it's a fine pattern&carry, one of the somewhat neglected knives, I just don't know why as they are appealing!

Sarah, nice whittler.....just like everything about that knife! Enjoy!

Thanks, guys! Yes, this one's a cracker, for sure. I'm really, really pleased. I added a bunch of pictures here, at the end of t.sous11's giveaway thread.

Thanks again, Tyler!

Still carrying my OP8 and still loving it. I did carry my 76 the other day, okay, I missed the American traditional and did not even realize it until it was back in use.

A blue beauty in the wild! Thanks.

... Once the rains let up, the whittlers came out to graze.

Keith made this one for me and I couldn't be happier with it. 3-7/8" closed with Westinghouse Micarta and thin red liners.

Not normally a fan of yellow handles, but those red liners make it stunning! I am carrying a plain black micarta sodbuster today, boring by this standard. (Yet super functional!)

Woodson, that Keith Johnson is a real beauty.
Having one of my own, I know the joy you must have in using it and experiencing a craftsman's work.

One of the best.

Thanks Gevonovich! You were the inspiration for this one. Unfortunately all my logs went to firewood so I couldn't give the zen like background you do. Another unfortunately, its harder to find these shadows in the right size, shape, location etc. I tried for a few hours but the clouds and wind kept messing with me. Finally I settled on an old red canvas in the field and grabbed a handful of foliage. You should have seen me standing up on the boat trailer trying to balance, hold my camera in my left and and the foliage in my right just waiting for those clouds to move past. Harder than it looks and I still didn't quite get the shadows/sun balanced like you do. :)

Great photo, Kevin!

You nailed it with the sharpness of the focus, the glow of the bevel on the blade, and the position of the shadows on your subject!!:D I get the feeling of red clay on the bank of a stream, the breeze sweeping through the grasses, on a warm Summer day.

You had me laughing with your balancing act, its so true. I find it really puts you "in the moment" and I love that about photography. That and the communing with Nature.
