What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another generous gift arrived yesterday. @Angry Waiter caught wind that I was searching for a nice blue knife to carry on Cowboys game days. Of course him being him, this awesome 54 was sitting in the mailbox. Thanks, Pete. I will carry this bad boy all week to will the mighty Dallas Cowboys to victory. Along with the 54 is this awesome smooth stag lambsfoot that was a gift a while back from @bigfish64.

Wow...win, win and maybe.
Great knives Paul from two fine porch
sitters. Well done Pete and Todd.👌

The maybe is for Dallas😁

Ok. I would not talk about personal problems in just any random social setting, but I feel comfortable with you porch friends. If this irresistable compulsion to carry a bunch of knives is a problem, I suppose you all probably understand. It’s not as if it’s negatively affecting me yet. I don’t have a knife hanging around my neck like afishhunter afishhunter , or have seven pounds of knives in a fanny pack like @5KQs!
Sure, my pants fall down fast when I unbuckle my belt, but I rarely do that in public…
Two in each front pocket, one in the little pocket, and one on the belt, plus my Leatherman and cell phone sheath ~ please tell me I’m normal. View attachment 2327937View attachment 2327938
My name is Jeff, and I’m a Knifeaholic.

Have a good day.
Every key chain needs a P38.

I'm no meteorologist or astronomer, but something seems very fishy about the shadows' positioning (and shape of the shadow of the handle) in that pic! o_O:oops: I had to check the calendar to make sure I hadn't overslept to April 1!🤓 Maybe I just can't figure out the position of the light source.
Congrats on the beautiful vintage knife, even if it's some kind of shape-shifter!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
I agree the shadow is peculiar. All I can tell you is that I took the picture early in the morning, so the sun was making long shadows.
Rachel, that tang stamp collage is superb! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
It is cool, isn't it? I wish I could give credit, but I don't remember where I found it. Whenever I come across a tang stamp chart on the interwebs, I save the image for future reference. I should start noting the source as well.

Nice shot of your Albers !

Splendid pair, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Than you Gary !

Thanks, Steve. :) My next "move" is to try using a guided rod system to see if the more consistent angle it should provide improves on my best free hand attempts.

That sounds like a good plan 👍

Fantastic knife-on-post shot of your barehead sleeveboard pen knife with the fiery tortoiseshell covers! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

😁:thumbsup: It's all relative, I suppose.

Never thought about who applies "Yankee" to whom; very interesting! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great knives, Vince! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
(When I was in high school, I thought Dickens' Tale of Two Cities was one of the best novels I'd ever read. I reread it about 20 years ago, and it didn't impress me nearly as much as it had initially.)

Congrats on the striking stag Remington, Bob, and kudos to Paul for his generosity! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Very informative post and photos! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
(And I completely fell for the story about the old timer who rode with you! o_O:rolleyes:)

Very fitting pair of folders to post to commemorate Charlie's birthday, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Rachel, that tang stamp collage is superb! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've enjoyed the toothpicks you posted recently, Jim! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Handsome stockman with a more orange color on the bonestag than I'm used to seeing! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Splendid pair, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

I'll bet it was Folger's Instant! The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup! :thumbsup:🤓

Thanks, Todd. :) Glad you're enjoying the cooler mornings.

Inspired pairing, Jack! To show that you mean business, you can "put the Hammer down" AND/OR "lower the Waboom". :cool::thumbsup:🤓

😁 I've heard of that!

Quality quartet, Jeff! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Superb knife; so long and slender! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Cherish the Churchills!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Well-respected institution! Do they play Clemson this year? 😁:thumbsup:

Basic and breathtaking! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I always enjoy seeing your well-matched pairs and trios.

Despite the unusual blade combo, that's obviously a cattle knife, Bart! 🤓:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Glad you tamed the beast! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

What a pair, Bob; that gunstock is high caliber! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thank you! They’re the Sunset Autumn jigged bone covers. My wife and I drive out to the Smoky Mountains for day trips several times a year. It’s about a 3 hour drive each way and on the way home we’re driving right into the sunset headed west. The color is spot on with how the sky looks just before the sun disappears. 😁👍

We all struggle from time to time, my friend. FWIW, you're doing much better than I am today. I'm carrying four at the moment. No fixed blades... or pockets.

Desert Ironwood Wednesday. Guess I felt fancy this morning? I've never been able to figure out much about Don Norton who made the fixie, sure wish I could - it's superbly crafted and the hollow grind is unbelievably thin. The kind of geometry that still cuts dull.

Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund don't be so hard on yourself Jeff. I know that nagging voice, self-doubt dogging my every step... The best way to make it go away is stab it with new knife ;)
