What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This little jack has served me well over the years, finish on the handle is starting to blister, but I love the integrals. Today he cut a load of carpet off a stairwell, marked out all my wood for a door frame, tidied and chamfered all the saw cuts and blade still looks brand new, I don't know what steel it is but I have not had to sharpen it much at all.View attachment 2329277
I believe it is 8Cr13 MO steel Wayne.

Two Schrades, both special because they were gifts from Porchsters😃3F4BFC93-86D3-43AD-9D20-4D25D9B1DC96.jpeg9DF39F22-395C-4F26-9BA3-D67B0F2E3CB0.jpeg
Nothing ever happens 🤞, but the Buck 119 is always there, tucked in by the driver’s seat.
And since Modoc ED Modoc ED confessed to totin a Spyderco for a doctor visit, I’ll admit there might be a Soyderco Police, and an old S&W model 38 Airweight Bodyguard in .38 Special in the car, too.

A Chinese stainless, maybe equivalent to 440 B. Good edge and rust prevention.
Sort of middle of the road.
Says on the obverse Japan 3115 if that means anything, were they using chinese steel?
Sad I know, but I remember when 440C was king of the road, dogs bollocks, custom makers steel of choice.

In the woods this morning gathering mushrooms. Found some Chicken of the Woods to cook for dinner later.
Glad you know how to eat right, Ellis. Save that grocery money for shanks!
Case Knife this week is a brown sawcut Barlow that I actually bought in person at a hardware store:
Dig the Case Gary. Jealous that you got to pick a knife in person - I have only bought traditionals on the internet, ever. Kind of sad, huh?
Lol...thanks kindly.👍🏻
Hang around...my wife says when I pass, she's selling my whole collection for peanuts.😁
"Good morning a" back atch'ya Bob! I hope your pocket feels as easy as that old friend looks. I think you should live forever, tbh. However, I was a Boy Scout, so in the spirit of preparedness, let us know how to suck up to your wife?

Look at me everybody! I am sitting, and conversing!!! Finally a bit caught up, those 7 repaired tables got last coat of poly Sunday night at 11:30, done and dusted Monday morning. Now to recover my finances, 80 hours of gratis labor is a hard pill to swallow. I did still manage to shell out for this year's BF knife, thank goodness. Family can miss a meal or two 🤷‍♂️

Beautiful work FC. Most people cannot appreciate the man hours involved in such fine craftsmanship.

How you liking the blade combo? Can’t wait til our BF knives show up!

I have only used the main blade so far, and only a couple times. Very controlled point that is excellent for opening boxes. I need to see how it does cutting meat, apples, etc. Small pen blades don't get a lot of use from me, and this one is probably no exception to that. What is cool to me about this knife is that the addition of the small pen didn't add any thickness, so the extra blade is just a bonus. I am very excited to see how the Forum knives look too!

Mushrooms are fascinating, and I really enjoy learning more about them. I do wish I could have spent more time in the woods earlier in the season this year. We missed out on the Chantrelles and Black Trumpets this year.

This one just showed up, so I'll be totin' this baby for the rest of the day!! 😍
I apologize in advance for all the pics -- I'm a little FIRED UP!! 😁
OUT with the old (red bone)...
IN WITH THE NEW (chestnut)!!!
I've been in search for the perfect shade of "red bone", and just realized today that "chestnut" is what I was looking for all along. 👍
I am always pleased to hear about someone being happy with a new knife!
And I really like the 5OT👊

This is the knife pattern I would pick if I could only have one carry knife.
Can’t say I blame you🤙
The only thing is that I usually feel that way about every knife in my pocket.😜

A.Wright & son and Camillus TL-29
Awesome pair, David!
Fine old piece of history in that Camillus. It’s from the older generation with the long shackle placed farther forward. A recent one is too short.
If you want to replace your missing shackle, PM me your address, and I’ll mail you the one in the left…68C2ADAD-00FF-4381-89F4-E14385F13367.jpeg All you need is a pin, even a nail would do. Come to think of it, I’ll send a pin, too.
Always wanted see country through locomotive's glass. Have not made it happen

I feel ya brother 👊
I'm a licensed engineer, and never got to drive a train ☹️
What's up with that? 😒
You guys need to come visit. I’ll take you to the Illinois Railway Museum! If you’re into trains, it’s pure heaven. They even have an old spur that runs about seven miles out into the corn and beans, and give rides on old steam engines.
Mike, they are always accepting experienced volunteers! You do have an engineer’s cap, right?B55932A3-09C9-4523-BFC6-F999CC92A6A6.jpeg
Look at the flowers the missus planted out back. These suckers are higher than my waist! Butterflies, moths, hummingbirds and all pollinators under the sun love these bad boys!

Your wife and I would get along.
When I was a kid, Grandpa always planted zinnias, and I carry that on in his memory. 7BA9894C-BB79-4558-AA1A-421BBD9C15EA.jpeg3862AED7-7B78-4C71-BDA6-BB9E3536CC0A.jpegF50BB117-5D02-4EE1-99C7-750476E114BF.jpeg
The ones at the ends of my tomato and bean rows really dig the manure and compost, and are 5 and 6 feet tall.
And you’re right ~ the hummingbirds and butterflys like them.
You reslly scored at the Blade Show with that pair of green Schrades, Paul.👌
Carried this Case the last 2 daysView attachment 2328805
Did someone mention Case redbone?
Have you decided on which knives to take on your Antartica cruise, Jon?

Have a nice day :)
Beautiful pair, Yann!
That fixed blade is fantastic. I’ll bet it makes a great kitchen knife, among other things.
Lol...thanks kindly.👍🏻
Hang around...my wife says when I pass, she's selling my whole collection for peanuts.😁
Let’s hope it’s a long time from now, but would you give her my phone number? 😗
Enjoying a nice coffee break during the work day. Nice temps, low humidity so I figured an outside break is warranted View attachment 2329225View attachment 2329226
That’s a fine everyday choice, Rick. Belt, or pocket carry?

They tell us thats Covid over here.
Get well Soon.

Hope you're feeling better soon 👍

Feel better and hope you get your QB problems straightened out.

Thanks fellas, feeling mostly fine, just annoyed, but will probably be able to leverage this to get out of at least one thing I'd rather not do over the next week or so.

Rufus, been waiting a long time to straighten that sitch out, what's one more year? Ha

Thanks for the invite, Jeff :) I was being a little obtuse before, as I'm not the right kind of engineer 😬 but sure, show me where the throttle is and point me in the right direction w00t.gif
