Makes great sense, I always keep mine in either their own pocket or in a pocket with nothing like keys or metal pens.
I bet your pockets are full of stone dust. I asked because when I worked at the proving grounds next to a test track my pockets filled with dust which was a very abrasive mix. My knives got that character quickly.

Honestly, I use the tar out of them and have lots of stuff in my right pocket lol. I start the day with my knife, pen(metal case) and keys. By the end of the day Ill have change and anything else I pick up in there. I can not bring myself to put anything in my left front with the cell phone. I lose an entire pocket to the stupid thing but I hate carrying them on my belt. Plus my hands usually have stone dust on them as well as silicon or polyester resin or sheetrock dust and I just use it and throw it back in my pocket. I clean them at the end of the day when I get home. Usually only oil once a week but sometimes I can feel the gritty-ness and flush it that night.
