What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The postman always rings twice (well sometimes mines a moody so and so). 🤣

Jack Black Jack Black

Today with a gift from Jack Black.

I sat in the unseasonably warm Sun and unpacked it,It took a while (I am sure he has shares in 3M as he wraps things up well with lots of tape). 😁

It was a stunning BPS Ukraine knife, these people not only make a great products but present them in a really nice way.

The quality of the leather sheath matches the quality of the knife.

Thanks Jack its very much appreciated.

Johnny, a dynamic duo you have there. I know you will soon put them to the test.
Congrats to you and bravo to Jack for his thoughtfulness.👍🏻

Glad you like it John :) The reason for all the tape was that I didn't have a cardboard box the knife would fit in, so I had to improvise! :D ;) They actually come from BPS packaged in a similar fashion :D

I switched from my 15 spear to the clip point on the Bunny, it was great sitting in the Sun anticipating what I would find.

Lets hope this weather lasts a bit longer.

Thanks again it made my day. 😁

PAL Navy Jack, and GEC 53 Electrician.View attachment 2349726View attachment 2349727
I found a lot of beans yesterday, and I need to trim the ends, and pull the strings from the ones that have them. I’ve already canned and frozen a lot, so I think I’ll take a drive to my parent’s and dump some off on them. I like a sheepfoot blade for trimming beans, so the 53 will get some more patina.
I probably will just carry the PAL, not use use it, because it’s kind of virginal. Every time I carry it, I think of our friend Halfstop Ron, because I bought it at the Badger Blade Show while he and his wife were there courtesy of Harry Old Engineer Old Engineer and his wife. We all sat around a table over coffee, and passed around the knives we’d found, before I left to pick up my daughter, and the four of them went back home for some of Harry’s sweet vidalia brats off his grill.
Good to see you keeping busy and still helping others Jeff . Nice knives especially that PAL .
That day you mention was a Very Good Day my friend .

Nice!
When I was a kid, I saved my lawnmowing money, and ordered a Shakespeare Neceda in 45# pull from Cabelas catalog. I still have it. It’s a sweet shooting bow.

Aaah, the promise of what’s to come. Mine are nearing the end, but I still have some big ones out there that I hope will ripen before first trost, and more cherry tomatoes than I can pick.. We were under a frost advisory last night, so I brought in our three house plants, and picked my peppers and tomatoes. My second planting of peas are about three feet tall, and not even blossoming yet, so I may have started them a few weeks too late. The second crops of spinach and lettuce aren’t bothered by a light frost, so we will still be eating salads for a while. But we’ve escaped the frost ~ for now. Saturday, I picked at least 30 lb of tomatoes to give away at church, mostly cherries. I’ll show you a picture of some of the two pounders in my kitchen.

With prices like that, maybe you should plow up your entire yard, and plant jalapenos!
Do you have farmer’s markets there?

Don’t apologize. Your photos are always a treat. Greg is a generous guy!

Out of impatience, and not wanting to bother with going to the doc to have stitches removed, I’ve done it myself. Snipped wth Swiss Army Knife scissors, and pulled with Leatherman pliers.
Staples might be another thing, though🫣
Jeff you sure do get some good results.
30lbs of tomato😯 you'ld be popular the wife's favourite.
It should go to back when I was a kid & people grew a few veggies. We used to have beans growing on the fence & used to grab a couple to munch on when outside. I did suggest to the other villas tp put there own veggies along the retainig wall, too hard. Yes we do have farmers market 1 day a week, found a lot of out town businesses were getting stalls & not true fsrmers😤 & prices weren't cheap

Have a great week everyone.

Selection for this week.

Such a great pile Gordon. Great variety!
Handsome pairings gents :)

Sorry to hear that Gary, a shame they're not made in the USA anymore :(

Glad to hear it Gary, I hope to see her in the Blue Bell some day ;) :D

LOL! :D I've got similar staples over my right knee. When I went to the hospital to get the staples removed, they couldn't find the remover (not much different to an office staple remover), so I offered to take them out with my knife! :D

That's got some wonderful character John

Starting the week with a Double Lambsfoot Day! 🎉😁 Have a good one folks

Shew. Sometimes they just look better goin than comin.

At the moment its warmer than August here in old Blighty and nice and sunny.

Out on my bike with the big,big jack today (love this knife).

At times it felt like I had fallen into a Constable painting.

The big surprise though was the plaque regarding the Battle of Edgehill in the church.

This is some serious history that shaped England and the world.

Battle of Edgehill, (Oct. 23, 1642), first battle of the English Civil Wars, in which forces loyal to the English Parliament, commanded by Robert Devereux, 3rd earl of Essex, fatally delayedCharles I’s march on London.
