What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Not changing yet, but I'm pretty sure this '56 to '88 Imperial Barlow will be part of my in-pocket carry next week and into DecemBRRRRRRRRR🥶.

I don't think the blade loss is as severe as on my poor Ulster Number 10.
This gets just as sharp and stays that way for the same length of use. Has no blade wiggly-wobblys ... It may not be "pretty" or "pristeine", but it does what it is asked of it.

Same three as yesterday.

I feel like I should point out that my Landsknecht Emporium messer is not a sword - it's a messer (knife), and thus completely appropriate on The Porch (and not just as a prop). At many points in time in the Holy Roman Empire swords were prohibited to non-nobility, so the peasants resorted to carrying messers, which sometimes just happened to have two-and-a-half-foot long blades. "No sword here, sir, just a perfectly legal knife."

In Talhoffers treatise from 1467, after sections on longsword and dagger and wrestling and other bits, the messer section is started with (in Cory Winslow's translation): "Here begins the Messer. God please do not forget us."

Gorgeous Steve :)
I almost never swap knives midday, but today I did.
We’re all gathering at Mom and Dad’s house to celebrate him turning 90.
My brother in law is a knife guy, but sadly seems stuck in the one hand opener, pocket clip, thumb stud, tacticool way of knifedom, which is just a sad place for a mid sixties man to be, right?

I have always shown him whatever traditionals I happen to be carrying, and I even gave him a nice one…
But I still see something ugly like a Gerber clipped on his pocket. 🥹
He has more money than anyone else in the family, so he’d be the perfect gut to introduce to nice, spendy slipjoints, right?

Hey Gregg, ever heard of Great Eastern Cutlery?View attachment 2402982
Hope that your dad has a great birthday Jeff, and that your brother in law sees the light one day ;) :)
Thanks, Jack. That is a recycled photo but one of my better snapshots of knives. I did manage to get out of my pajamas that day and carried that pair for about 5 days straight. ;)
Wife and I traveled for 10 days to visit daughters and grandkids over Thanksgiving and arrived home a few hours ago. I don't post on my phone but have been looking in occasionally
while away so I'm way behind my friend. :)
That's a lot of travelling Greg :) I hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving :)

Nice choice ;) :)
Went a bit different today, haven't had this 1 our in awhile.

When I was in the East of Poland some years ago, friends told me that it was still legal to openly carry a three foot sword there, provided you were on you way to practice, or were a member of some historical society or fantasy group :D On the other hand, there are very strict controls on baseball bats

Wishing everyone a great Sunday :)

The Mrs. & me went out to a local tree farm yesterday to pick ourselves out a Christmas tree for this year.
Modoc ED Modoc ED and screened porch screened porch were talking about Copperlocks recently & it got me to bring one along for this weekends carry, a nice festive green 😉IMG_20231125_155747986.jpgIMG_20231125_155138605_HDR.jpg

Great carry for your trip to the tree farm.👌
I love those old trucks. Just sold my '56 f100 and miss it already.

Not a carry today or any day for me, but I thought I’d share a cool little knife I have had for a while.

This Ky Rifle Schrade was given to me in 1995 as a Christmas present from my late grandmother. 466 of 12000. I used to spend Thanksgivings with her, so I think of her often during the holidays. Her late husband had about 5 of these in mint condition and after he passed she gave them to all of the grandsons. It is one of my most prized possessions (I’m a simple man with simple tastes). I hope to have a grandson some day to pass it on to. Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Thanks! I enjoy seeing them as well. I believe you, I've been in the same boat. I sold a '78 Ford F100 4wd a few years back, still kicking myself for that...

I recently inherited a 1974 F100 2wd from my late grandfather. Gonna be fixing it up & keeping it in the family.

Here's a couple of his work knives I also inherited. He was an electrician ⚡IMG_20231110_103448482_HDR~2.jpgIMG_20200808_121852040.jpg
