What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

So far the winter storm has stayed away. We're supposed to get rain turning to snow tomorrow. If we skip the freezing rain transitory period, that'll be fine.
C'mon spring 🏝️
On the plus side the days are getting longer :D

I second that emotion, Mike! :thumbsup::thumbsup:🤓

Thank you, GT. Blessed to have them. The green lamb was a generous gift from @Rufus1949.
Bob's generosity is remarkable! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nothing new. Just this pair today. It’s cold in The Bluegrass State. Stay safe, Porchers. View attachment 2449126
Distinguished dark duo! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Have a good week everyone :) Starting mine with these two, my Hartshead Barlow, with Rosewood covers, (in a slip by @sbh06 ), and a nicely fettled Peasant, gifted to me by Johnnythefox Johnnythefox :thumbsup:

Wondrous wood pair, Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

New to me work carry. First knife of the new year too!

Those white 88s look fancy to me; congrats! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
(But don't drop it in the snow! o_O)

A couple clad in micarta. The Oregon Trapper is muslin micarta, I don’t know what fabric the other is made of. I bought a small slab of it from a knifemaking supply place.View attachment 2449702View attachment 2449704Tree rats using my woodpile to plot and stage their next assault on my squirrel-proof sunflower seed feeders.View attachment 2449703Our Brittany Spaniel was pretty slick about defending against tree rats. Being mostly while, he would crouch motionless in the snow like a cat under where one was treed, then nab them when they thought the coast was clear and came down.
Manny just charges hell-bent out the door. They see him coming, and make it to the safety of the woods. Just barely. Then he barks at them, pees on the tree they escaped into, and looks proud of himself.😏
Preeminent pair of pocketknives, Jeff; I really like the secondary blade on your electrician! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
Our Pomeranian/Shih-Tzu mix thinks he's a mighty squirrel hunter, but he's not very much bigger than many of the squirrels around here, and I don't know if the dog would survive his actually catching one of the squirrels in our back yard. He has come close a couple of times.

Those jigged bone Waynorth lambsfoot knives make my heart race like I was in a snow shoveling race! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Just got these 3 in the mail think I will finish the day with the Schrade Whittler

Congrats on your 3 vintage arrivals; trio of winners, in my book! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
My eyes aren't so good anymore - does the shoe shield cattle knife have a WARDS tang stamp?

That's an appealing camp knife! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Is it a stag Rough Ryder? What tools does it have?

Haha. Thanks Gary. Not too far off. I sure know how to vacation 😁 My wife thought it looked like a scene from Star Wars.
Thank you. I’m pretty happy with it.
🤓:thumbsup:

Carrying my Wee Staggy Lambsfoot, with a random side-order of Maserin Plow ;) Have a good day everyone :thumbsup:

Splendid couple of carries, Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Hoping for more of these in the near future, but if the calendar clue was a smokescreen, I’m lucky to have this one.

Given to me as a gift for my daughter, to go along with the Case Canoes my dad and I gave to all of my brothers and nephews.

Nephews may be jealous of their cousin down the road View attachment 2450872
Captivating canoe! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary.
Your rotation of cutlery continues to impress.👌
Thanks for the kind words, Bob. :)

So I wanted a 6318 and probably looked at half a million of them over the last year before seeing this one. It just instantly stood out! This is from 2003 and it's probably the nicest case I've seen in terms of fit and finish. Perfect blades, solid snap, nice grinds and edges... everything is smooth and works well. Awesome all around.

I put it in the case thread but I'll be scratching it up for a while so why not here as well. 😁

Congrats; that's a beauty! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Is it stainless? What did Case call that bone?

Just my nylon Sportsman for this morning

How does Jack like the snow?

You mean they don't "burn up on re-entry"? 😳

Danke.
😁:thumbsup:

I wouldn't necessarily call it "sophisticated". It looks a lot like an improvised slingshot. I started pricing bench stones, etc. (not cheap) and ultimately decided to go with the KME after some very helpful insight from @SoansoMcMasters. It appeared to be the "best bang for the buck". Truth be told, I haven't spent a lot of time with it. 🤷‍♂️ Hand-honing on a candy dish? I want to be like you when I grow up! 😁
You can probably be like me, but I don't want to hear any complaints once you find out what "like me" is really like! :rolleyes:🤓

Outstanding Canoes gentlemen. 😎👍
Thanks, Todd. :)

Thank you Todd. I can now appreciate the form and function of a canoe " first hand " 😏
Bob, I hope you enjoy your first canoe as much as I enjoyed mine! :thumbsup:;) Almost 10 years ago, I ordered a set of 12 Rough Riders (12 different patterns, all with amber jigged bone covers). My plan was to carry each knife for a week to see how I liked it, learn what it could do, etc. At some point it was the canoe's turn, and imagine my surprise when I couldn't get that pattern out of my pocket for a MONTH!😲🤓

Sublime knife! Good to see you enjoying it so much! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Anyone else relate to the Progressive ‘Dr. Rick’ commercial where he’s at the dumpster with ‘homeowners becoming their parents’ and making them throw stuff away? I have too much stuff. But, one of the benefits is that you re-discover things!! 🤪😜 I stumbled across this Whittler Set while digging through my Man Cave. The blades need some work, but this find was a pleasant surprise!!

Cool carving tools! :thumbsup::cool::cool: I've seen a set like that here, but forgot all about it until you found yours. (Maybe paulhilborn paulhilborn posted them once; I think he has at least one of everything!;):thumbsup:)

As a gunstock man I've come close to pulling the trigger on one of those Trestle Pine gunstocks several times but always stop myself. How does it rate?
I believe I've been lucky with the two I have. I've heard others having quality issues with theirs. Mine are centered pretty good, not perfect but nowhere near rubbing the liners. The fit & finish are good also, no gaps or anything. They do have some grit in the action though but have gotten better with a thorough flushing and some use. You're probably already aware they are no longer in production. Gotta find them second hand or some place that has new old stock. Good luck 👍

Congrats; that's a beauty! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Is it stainless? What did Case call that bone?
Thanks! Yep it's stainless! I have no idea what the bone is called on this one. I've been searching but nothing has turned up yet.

Pockets full of Barlows for this Saturday. ☺️

Looking good Bart :) :thumbsup:
It’s a cold, snowy day today, so I won’t be taking the pup for a walk today. But it is stag Saturday, so I’ll be lounging in front of the fire with these guys 😊

Terrific trio :cool: :thumbsup:
Didn’t realize you folks had Sharknados across the Pond!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Since 1986! :D :thumbsup:
Wondrous wood pair, Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Splendid couple of carries, Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
Thank you for the kind words my friend :) :thumbsup:
That’s a cool one, Jack. I like how the bolster is showing some signs of use, even if the stainless blade isn’t.
Thanks a lot buddy :) :thumbsup:

Have a great Sunday folks :) :thumbsup:

My Opinel's in olive oil bath. I must confess my love to this brand. They have a rustic charm, they are easy to modify and they are just so practical. Nothing "tactical", cut with the best of them, don't weigh you down. These other two I don't have anymore, lost one, gave one away. Wish the older style locking ring knives were still available.
