What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Been meaning to comment on how much I admire the handle shape on your sleeveboard Kroo Bob, it's *just so*.

Problem? I need my IQ lowering knives just to talk with "normies" about knives. Must sink to their level first 😉

Mail call this week. very much pleased with the 29, going to use it hard. She rode in my pocket to a derby today, our Red Rocket beat the Turtle Powermobile for third place!
Hope everyone on the Porch is staying as warm as they want to be.

Thanks pal, made over here. If they still make it, I'd be happy to send you one over
Got this R70 from my dad many, many years ago. I now know a little. Thanks for the pics.IMG_3434.jpeg

The lock is very solid, seems to be made with tight tolerances. Of course it works different compared to backlock. This works the same as the lock used in a Spanish navaja. By the way, the same knife is available with a backlock.

The construction is play free and the blade is easy to sharpen. So I recommend it.
Thank you! The one in stag/deer horn is beautiful and is what I was looking at and thought the lock on it was pretty spiffy

Nice pair Barrett and those Stylophones are so cool. I need to get one of those. I’m sure the kids would have fun figuring out songs 👍

Thanks Bart! I got a Stylophone for my niece for Christmas, and figured I ought to get one for Eleanor, too. My dad was a pro when it came to giving kids (particularly other people’s kids) gifts that could drive their parents crazy; I’m just trying to carry on that tradition. 😁

I’ve probably messed around with the Stylophone more than Eleanor had since Christmas, but she did put in a good bit of time learning and practicing Happy Birthday so she could play it for my mom on her birthday last week.

She seems in very good form Barrett. She tried phoning me at Christmas, but since I was in Lanzarote, it is probably fortunate that she wasn't connected :) In her letter, she updated me on some of the things being done in Sheffield to commemorate Stan's life and work, including a pavement plaque outside the Cutler's Hall. It seems that having treated him rather shoddily, for the most part, during his life, he is latterly being recognised by some of the city's Great and Good  Mrs Shaw has donated Stan's workshop to the museum, so it will hopefully stay as he left it. When I wrote back, I told her about the location of a knife Stan had made as a gift for someone a dozen or so years ago. Nobody can see it where it is, and she might want to have it :) Stan kept copies of all his patterns, and that would certainly make a wonderful exhibit

That’s good, Jack. I’m glad to hear some nice things are being done in remembrance of Stan, but it’s a shame, of course, that the same level of respect wasn’t paid to him while he was alive. I hope the museum is able (and willing) to preserve Stan’s workshop.

Nice group of knives there, Jack. The caplifter on that Double Diamond knife has an interesting shape to it.

Bean Bucks do come in handy...

Quite the pommel on that old Case fixed blade!

Maybe a little luck, and a lot of money? 😆

Hey ~ maybe you’ll see one at the Blade Show!

I don’t know. There’s tons of good stuff at the Badger show, but I only remember seeing a couple GECs.

I am currently planning , and looking forward , to be there on that Friday . I also have some new ones to show .

Harry

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend :) Double Albers for me

Could you imagine the consternation if I did.🤣
LOL! :D I found that Ibberson Action Knife, it's a Sheepsfoot, still in the plastic wallet :) I'll try to get it off to you this week John

That's in nice condition :) I sometimes see them on market stalls, mixed in with SAKs, but usually in poor condition. They were produced in the Richards of Sheffield factory, after Richards acquired Rodgers-Wostenholm. I had a brother-in-law who worked there then. I imagine they were part of the Richards production line

Yes mate, it's ironic that the Hawley Tool Collection are involved, (and the Cutler's Hall for that matter). Stan used to make knives for a feller from Tennessee, who would visit, with his wife, once a year. One time, Stan took him to see the Hawley collection, then at a different location. The woman in charge knew Stan well, he had given her a lot of help with her dissertation, but she refused to let him and his guest in without an appointment :(

Thanks mate, they still make a similar pattern in Sheffield
Thanks mate

Starting my week with these two
