I won't write him off yet. He is new and asked me to critique it.
He wanted to give it to me, which I could not do. I hope he takes suggestions in a positive way.
I hope that as well. He seems to be very talented and coming along. Any skillset with this kind of precision requires many reps.

The only way to get better is to put yourself out there and give it a whirl. Good for him to ask for feedback.
