Wishng peace and good memories. It’s a rainy day in Texas today. It’s also a melancholy day. Today we learned we have to put my resilient dog, Shasta, down. So, to honor her I will share some photos and memories with y’all today instead of knife photos. She is 13 and lived her life outside. She was never frightened by anything (except water) and always chased the deer and squirrels away from our gardens and flowers. She was sweet and lovable, but ferocious. One time I awoke in the night to barking and I found she had cornered a cat against the wall of the house. She wasted no time in defending the house from such a dangerous invader.
This ensuring scuffle not end well for the cat, which I removed from the yard the next morning. She is and always will be my grilling buddy and I will miss seeing her in the front yard eagerly awaiting my arrival as I pull in the driveway. Thank you for listening to my ramblings and go spend time with your furry friends on this Friday.
Great knife. Do NOT let the TSA confiscate it.Going out of the country for the next week. Bringing this knife with me as my only traditional. I don't know the history of this particular knife but I like the idea that it might be leaving the states with me for the first time in a long time. Have a good week everyone.

Nice, especially considering it was made before 1949.Today is the first day using this Camillus 89 stockman. I think around 50 years in the box was long enough.![]()
Different maker, but my belt was Amish made, too.Wow Paul, a carry like that really takes some balls! It was a good Friday so far, hope yours was as well?
No they don't let me out much, actually bought on regrEtsy from the Amish down there. Still, I like to keep it as local as possible and usually after you contact a craftsman you can go around the platform and their fees the next time. Besides Missouri, Water Buffalo leather was a bonus, as I am unaccountably hard on belts. How's that rib feeling - or is it too soon to ask?

My Friday pocket friends. Make the most of your weekends people of the Porch!
Thanks for asking ~ the ribcage is gonna take a while, I guess. 12 days of sleeping in the recliner, and counting.

Ed I completely agree. There’s nothing I hate more than taking my dog to the vet and see someone in the waiting room sobbing and you know why they are there. The only thing I do is sit down next to them and give them a hug and cry with them.Very sad. It's a tough thing to do putting a pet down. I know this might sound silyl but I've sent thoughts on to my dogs that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge to keep an eye out for Shasta.
I’m sure they will welcome her, thank you sirVery sad. It's a tough thing to do putting a pet down. I know this might sound silyl but I've sent thoughts on to my dogs that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge to keep an eye out for Shasta.

Thanks! The short line stamp would indicate pre1949. But near as I can figure Camillus introduced the “India Stag” Delrin around 1972. Since this one has pinned on handles, I think it was made before ‘76. I have another 89 that has a long line stamp, but the handles are pressed on with a central pin. Camillus made the change from pinned on handles to pressed on handles in ‘76 to ‘77. Maybe a Camillus expert can comment further?Nice, especially considering it was made before 1949.
Well done Dan! What a beautiful piece!Finished this BPS blade blank handle and reprofile project today.
Time to tote it now(wait, I still need to sharpen it lol )

That 25 is spectacular Barrett! Thanks, Bob. The #25 is a great smaller pattern. Same length as the #14 but feels more substantial.
Same here, Todd. See you in a week!
I bought that same knife a few years ago, and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I like it.
Same Albers, different #25 today.

Fantastic carry Paul, it’s a deep rabbit hole my friend!Got a shadow lamb and this 66 Jack knife that.bigfish64 has convinced me that the 66 pattern is worthy. I hate to say it but he’s right. I’ve enjoyed this one since getting it. Another rabbit hole

ThanksWhat do you call that, half-congress? Great jigged bone.
Speaking of nice jigged bone…
Yes. Even one necessary piece of work requiring a knife automatically means the knife was a wise decision.
Nice belt. Did you buy that in person down in the Bootheel?
Don’t tell the Wharnie folks, but this mini trapper just looks right that way.
Well, “bi-polar diet” requires the bi-polar scales Jack.
Hope it serves you well.
Keep your head down, and phone charged, right?
I have a vision of you. In your chair after supper, towel across your lap (instead of a phone), whittling a wooden chain.
Most impressive stick-to-it ethic.
Well, three generations of your females being gone, keeping the kitchen clean should be easy for a bachelor.
Hey~nice Cattaraugus Spey Jack
Nice old Camper Knife, Yann
Congrats, Dad.
Great knife, Will. Nice big blade in a slim grip.
