Monday morning "Nuts"(coconuts) slicing them up with my Big Jack HJ. 😆

In case you dont know the WW2 story about the tough American general.

Surrender? “Nuts!” Gen. Anthony McAuliffe’s 1944 Christmas Message to his Troops

In mid-December 1944, Allied forces were surprised by a massive German offensive through the Ardennes Forrest that created a “bulge” in the Allied lines. Caught in what would become known as the “Battle of the Bulge,” the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Armed Forces was holed up in Bastogne while German armored divisions encircled the town. Outnumbered, outgunned, and running out of food, ammunition, and medical supplies, the embattled assistant division commander, Brigadier General Anthony McAuliffe, faced bleak prospects.

On December 22, the American troops were sent an ultimatum from the German forces outside of the town, demanding “the honorable surrender” of the town within two hours. General McAuliffe reply was brief and succinct:

“To the German Commander:

N U T S !

The American Commander”

Left home yesterday morning spending the night just south of Salt Lake City. I had forgotten how big and sprawling that area is. Drove through rain and snow squalls to make it to Capitol Reef National Park this morning. We were treated to intense wind, beautiful scenery and delicious apple pie.

Light carry today as I’m still trying to get use to being retired :) and remembering what day it is lol. Think I’ll get the chain saw out and trim some bushes in the back yard 🤣

Congratulations brother. Time to put some back country / back road miles on the Toyota and then more touring miles on the Beamer. Enjoy it. Might be time to take the 29 to the range.
Is Sissy hiding or enjoying it now that you are home every day?

This is gonna be good. Hope to see a progress report as you get it shaped and finished. Off to the belt sander?
A little different than some people. I like to use a sharp knife and whittle it down closer to size before sanding. Try and minimize the sanding I do, it's mostly psychological but it gums up my belts.

I haven't done much on it, I'm still mulling over the end shape. I'm debating between just a simple barrel or whether I should do finger grooves. I'm leaning towards barrel today. Similar to the remington next to it.

Afternoon carry, the sun was out the roads where dry and my bike is street legal from today (taxed).😍

Very, very nervous as its my first ride since I was in hospital.

Break myself in with a gentle little ride on roads I know well and stop at a favourite coffee stop in the country.;)

What could possibly go wrong?

The clue is I live in England.

All was going well till I got to wantage it was like a switch all of a sudden it was cold and the roads where awash and greasy wet.🤭

Still must push on to my coffee stop on the other side of the town (riding in the middle of the road to avoid the big puddles).

It gets colder still and rains more,oh no the coffee stop is closed. 😁

Carry on towards Newbury "flood ahead sign"(these are often wrong or left out a month after) ride the crown of the road with water up to my footpegs,by now I need a hot drink.

3 more miles and the road is totaly closed, the sign says "find alternative route",brilliant advice except there is non we are in the countryside.;)

So back to wantage and a Costa coffee and more rain.

But you better believe I enjoyed every minute of it.

Riding my bike is pure pleasure, we've to NZ and back and all over Europe together.

When I get home I hose my bike and my boots down have a cuppa tea, turn the heating on and fall asleep in front of the telly, great day out. 😍😍😍
