Love that shield and the bone color GT. 😍

@CelloDan, I found some Sous Vide, Tuscan Bread, asparagus, and Au Jus in the fridge. ! I had to use the microwave though.
Boy would I like to get away for three days in the wild!

Lol ............ I watched his video right before lunch ......... promptly made lunch. 🤣🤣🤣
I had to resort to a bologna and cheese sandwich and chips ......... severe thunderstorm sirens blaring at the same time. :(⚡💥🌬️🌩️💦
I'll do better this evening. 🤣

A big storm rolled through last night. I was up in the middle of the night and the sky was flickering constantly, 360 degrees around. Lots of lightning. The Memeorial Day Sunday is a day I devote to car racing. I started off with the Monaco Grand Prix. I got to see most of that one, but about an hour in it switched to Hearts of Heroes. That lasted 10-15 minutes. Then the same episode of Hearts of Heroes started over. Then switched episodes. Then returned to F1. I don't know if it was ABC or our local ABC affiliate. I picture a summer intern - The University of Missouri has a large journalism school - calling someone in a panic:
"Ok, Ok we'll get it fixed. You didn't push the big red button did you?"

....

"...um..."🫣

Next up it the Indy 500. The storm that hit us last night rolled through Indy shortly before the race was supposed to start. Its been in rain delay for several hours now. They indicate they think they can run the race. Its supposed to start in a half hour or so 🤞

Finally, NASCAR has the Charlotte 600 this evening. I expect the storm will be there by then 😬

Carrying a walnut and brass Buck 55 around so far.

I see what you did there... Well done! 🤣
Thanks, John. :)
I took a nap yesterday, and my mind is like a stainless steel trap today (instead of like a rusty sieve most other days). 🤓

Thank you! I actually bought 2 1975 models; one uncarried and one that had been carried. I let my uncle talk me out of the uncarried one some time back. He will more than likely keep it forever. I would like to have an earlier example, but they are getting scarce.
I've managed to get a few older canoes, a couple of them Case models, but almost always with help from other BF members,:thumbsup:
I think I've read that Case first made the canoe pattern prior to 1915, but I sure haven't run across anything nearly that old. For my grail birth year canoe, I have to go back "only" to 1951.🤓

Case calls those covers “polymer”. A step better than “ plastic with purdy designs on ‘em”.

Have a great Sunday GT!
Thanks for the info, Jon; splendid knife!
I hope you have a great Sunday, too; I hope you don't have too much residual beach sand where it shouldn't be from your recent interment. 😁

Love that shield and the bone color GT. 😍
...
Thanks, Rob. :)
It's a pretty interesting canoe, and is a much nicer knife than I expected. I bought it for $5.99 plus a 20% discount. (I'd been looking at the knife for quite a while, but waited too long; the price had jumped up by more than a dollar by the time I finally "pulled the trigger".)
The bone color is nice, but it's hard to tell what it's supposed to be from the name of the knife listed on the seller's website:

XYZ Brands 1551 Canoe Brown Bone Folding Pocket Knife with Burnt Orange Jigged Bone Handle

And there's plenty of mention of America on shield, blade etch, bag, and box, but the pile side tang stamp proudly reads CHINA. 🤓

Very cool Case coke bottle, is there a particular name that Case has for that design.
I really like the 97 Allegheny, so much so that Im looking at other makers for that style. So far I've found Schatt & Morgan and Case.. any others?

Thank you and It is a Case Granddaddy Barlow. After the Tested XX era (1920-39), they were marked model 6143. 😊

While I agree, this is a more somber holiday, I'm sure he didn't mean any disrespect. I know alot of people say "Happy" by default & they just hope everyone is doing well wherever they're at 👍
I understand. But. I hope all who read the post take a moment to reflect on what Memorial Day is all about and don't just think its a good day for a BBQ and nothing more.

I’ve been putting in long stretches, days, even weeks, without changing knives.
Just these in the last month or two…

Grandpa left me three pocket knives, but I never saw him carry more than one at a time. Always his Camillus Jack, or Imperial Barlow. The Hammerbrand Pen had a broken blade, and I never saw him use it.
This is him.
