What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That pair of 🐈🐈will make your pockets happy!

Happy ...happy ... happy .. happy ! 🤣

Also attached is a photo of my 4-year old granddaughter watching the various fireworks with me. ‘See Papa, I’m not even crying this year!’ She was proud of herself. Meanwhile, her 3-year old brother was in full on panic mode!!😜🤪

The lake is abuzz with a full on invasion of the ‘Ohio Navy’ and I’m sitting here watching the various vessels ignore any semblance of ‘right of way’ and cross each other’s paths in all the wrong ways. 🤔 The 31 will keep me company.

Growing up ! ( although she seems to be staying close to her security blanket (Grandpa) just for good measure) 🤣
I'll have to ask my son what my almost three year old grandson did. 🤔
On the fourth weekend, I always stayed off the water for that very reason. 🤬💥🤣

#35 today. I went crappie fishing this morning; caught about fifteen before the heat ran me off the water. When I got home, Mrs.Crappie had to go into town and stop at the post office. When she got back home, she had this #78 with her.

That's a pretty handsome Barl-Jack there Mr. Crappie !
I see you came up with a solution for what to call it.😍🤣

Went with a couple favorites for Friday. Hope everybody has a good weekend

I love the easy open 85’s. Who did the recover? The jigged bone style and color is perfect.

This one was done by David Valdivieso. Box Elder Burl wood.

Large Lamb and a Challenge Cutco Jack

ItgPaJz.jpg
Fantastic Challenge Jack. 😍

Have you been able to date her?
I was able to narrow my large pen knife to 1916 to 1928, by the stainless blades.
The owner of Challenge passed in 1928, with the company shutting down with-in a couple months of his death.

They were (obviously) a high end cutlery company, and were among the first to offer stainless bades, starting in 1916.

I have not been able to find out which stainless they used, however. ☹️
I'm guessing one of the 400 series? The blades are magnetic, which eliminates the 300 series ... or at least the more commonly found today 300 series.

It looks like yours has a bit of patina, so she may be senior to mine.

That lamb looks stellar, as well.

Thanks, no I've not tried to date it. It's not stainless, at least I don't think it is.

Another fine morning here. I’m enjoying some coffee and have this one to carry today. Happy Friday.

I have been pestering Daniel to make me a knife. If he doesn’t get around to it before then I’ll probably grab one from him in Nashville. Everything he touches is gold.
Happy Friday y'all!
It's definitely hot & muggy out today, so remember to stay hydrated if you're out in it. It's about 100°F outside here with a heat index of 111°F where I'm at. The 50% humidity really makes it stick to you 🔥
Anyways I stopped by our favorite local bakery to get some stuff to cool off with 😉
Got the Barlow & Scout riding shotgun with me today.
Some fresh smoked Gouda pimento cheese really hits the spot.View attachment 2606976

Along with a Blackberry & peanut butter cheesecake (Good ol' PB&J) & yes they added a macaroon on top.

Last but not least some freeze dried peach candy. (Mrs. Hoovies favorite)

Have a great weekend everyone!
My son loves those peach rings so much I bought a mold and figured out how to make them myself.
New to me 77 and Cosimo lamb today. Hope everyone had a great Independence Day.

That 77 is so nice. If the sawcut marks on the last run of 77s looked like that I probably would have kept mine.
