US Schrade Old timer 8OT stockman
The main blade is stiff enough that I need a helper to open it. I have the finger strength, but my finger nails do not, even though I keep them short. But the other blades are about a 5 and those are what I mostly use, so not a problem.
I was wondering about that on mine.
Main is noticably stiffer/heavier than the other two ... About an "8" to "8.5"? after lubing. The other two are a "5".
The three on my hollow bolster Imperial, and Imperial Frontier are all a "5", so I was wondering if my 8OT was "defective" concerning the stiff pull on the main.
I don't need a pick to open it, but it is somewhat disconcerning. Enough so I am more likely to carry one of the Imperials, or my vintage 585, which has a "5" pull on all the blades. I don't particularly like wrestling or fighting with my knife to open it.
Love the jigging on the lower two.

I may be the only one with a knife and fork… but I’d be classy for sure! But it could help in a hotdog eating contest…![]()
Thanks!
Thank youVery cool. I’ve been debating whether I just start using my. 86 Charlie harness Jack. I just have so many users already. I guess there’s no reason they can’t all be full of patina.
