Nice walkin' stick and nife.
That's an old Yamaha Virago v-twin in the "Norton".Nice walkin' stick and nife.
NORTON MADE (makes?) A V-TWIN????
I "thought" they were strictly side by side twins ... tho I heard a rumor that back in the late 50's or early 60's they made a single cylinder "thumper" for the board track or something, for a short while ...
When did Norton bring out a V-Twin?
Do you know if they are as reliable as the old 750 and 850 Commando's?
(The 750 was very limited production in the 60's (before they changed to shift on the left/brake on the right) intended for the 750 Class on the track track.
I knew a guy in San Bernardino, CA in the 70's that had one made street legal.
A (then) long time friend in Iowa had a 850 Commando.
(I've not seen or talked to him since 19 and 88. I don't know if he still has it. It was his "baby", and had it professionally restored "to new" in 1984 or 1985, so he might?)
Interestingly the same pattern by Katz is still in the market in Germany (stag). The steel is only declared stainless but nevertheless…Not sure how available these are currently. I had to dig a few years back to find a dealer who had one. If I remember correctly, they offered both a drop point and clip blade options. I chose the drop point for the novelty. The steel is AUS 8.
An interesting take on a two-spring three blade knife. The blades are not crinked but are offset. But they are not thinned out, either. The result is a thick knife for the pocket, but a pleasure to use in the hand. (Reminds me of carrying a camper model.)
As I mentioned above, the walk and talk is a bit light, with the spring strength at about a 3 if an SAK were a 5. But still holds nicely in place during use. If you don't find the average Buck 301 unusable because of light springs, then I think this would work for you. The action, although light, is very smooth.
The bone is very well done. Fit and finish is immaculate with no gaps and springs flat in both open and closed positions for both open and closed of each blade, as one would expect of a knife made in Japan.

I modified the pen blade, as well as lightly torched then dyed it.Did it come from the factory with that blade combination, or has it been modified?

Nice knife, Rachel!!Nice beads, Charlie!

Two Old Timer Jacks. 94&33.
Nice, long coping blade, too.Today I'm carrying an odd little Rough Rider "Gunstock Stockman".
Aside from the Gunstock pattern it has two other unusual features
> It has half-stops on all three blades
> It has a coping blade instead of a sheepsfoot.
Unfortunately the nail nick on the coping blade is hidden by the spey blade. To open the coping blade one must first open the spey. So this does not see much pocket time.

Lamb & Barlow today. We’ll be heading out to our local fire company’s lawn party. It’s an annual fundraiser for them. They sell fried chicken dinners and other foods. There’s a carnival and live music, also on Saturday night they have fireworks. We look forward to it every year.
