What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Nice walkin' stick and nife. 😁👍

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😳NORTON MADE (makes?) A V-TWIN????🤯🤯🤯🤯😳
I "thought" they were strictly side by side twins ... tho I heard a rumor that back in the late 50's or early 60's they made a single cylinder "thumper" for the board track or something, for a short while ...

When did Norton bring out a V-Twin?
Do you know if they are as reliable as the old 750 and 850 Commando's?
(The 750 was very limited production in the 60's (before they changed to shift on the left/brake on the right) intended for the 750 Class on the track track.
I knew a guy in San Bernardino, CA in the 70's that had one made street legal.
A (then) long time friend in Iowa had a 850 Commando.
(I've not seen or talked to him since 19 and 88. I don't know if he still has it. It was his "baby", and had it professionally restored "to new" in 1984 or 1985, so he might?)

That's an old Yamaha Virago v-twin in the "Norton".
The Norton Manx was one of the greatest racing thumpers of all time.

Not sure how available these are currently. I had to dig a few years back to find a dealer who had one. If I remember correctly, they offered both a drop point and clip blade options. I chose the drop point for the novelty. The steel is AUS 8.

An interesting take on a two-spring three blade knife. The blades are not crinked but are offset. But they are not thinned out, either. The result is a thick knife for the pocket, but a pleasure to use in the hand. (Reminds me of carrying a camper model.)

As I mentioned above, the walk and talk is a bit light, with the spring strength at about a 3 if an SAK were a 5. But still holds nicely in place during use. If you don't find the average Buck 301 unusable because of light springs, then I think this would work for you. The action, although light, is very smooth.

The bone is very well done. Fit and finish is immaculate with no gaps and springs flat in both open and closed positions for both open and closed of each blade, as one would expect of a knife made in Japan.

Interestingly the same pattern by Katz is still in the market in Germany (stag). The steel is only declared stainless but nevertheless…

Did it come from the factory with that blade combination, or has it been modified?
I modified the pen blade, as well as lightly torched then dyed it.

The pen blade was way too long for the knife, and the original color just had to go.
The grey bone looks tolerable in stock photos, but in reality it's often an ugly light purplish color in my experience.

Its a Norton frame with a Yamaha TR1 engine hence the Triton.

Most Tritons will have a Triumph engine of course.

Lamb & Barlow today. We’ll be heading out to our local fire company’s lawn party. It’s an annual fundraiser for them. They sell fried chicken dinners and other foods. There’s a carnival and live music, also on Saturday night they have fireworks. We look forward to it every year.

Today I'm carrying an odd little Rough Rider "Gunstock Stockman".
Aside from the Gunstock pattern it has two other unusual features
> It has half-stops on all three blades
> It has a coping blade instead of a sheepsfoot.
Unfortunately the nail nick on the coping blade is hidden by the spey blade. To open the coping blade one must first open the spey. So this does not see much pocket time.

Nice, long coping blade, too.
That's a surprisingly major gaffe for a RR.

Fine pair! 😍 Better than soup with lamb, at least for the lamb's sake! 🤣

Thank you my friend and I agree ….. for the lambs sake. 👍🏻😂

Congratulations on the new critter knife JW …… lots of eyes. 👍🏻🙀😍

Got a real early start to town today. So early I didn't want to wake some of you up so postponed posting until now. Carried and still carrying this single blade Barlow (that's what A. Wright calls it) made as an SFO for a dealer in Eugene, Oregon. Oddly enough, that dealer had a SFO two blade version made and even more oddly, the knife is what I'd call a version of if not exactly a match for the Bunny Knife that was our 2022 BF Knife. Everybody still with me on this????

Anyway, here's the knife I carried today .

And as I was gabbing about. The dealer's Bunny made as an SFO by A. Wright. and our Bunny Knife.

I hope everyone followed that because I'm a little confused and need some recliner chair time. See ya - errrrrrrr type to ya tomorrow.
