What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Bryant Hollinger’s new model, the Wildcat. I believe his first original slipjoint pattern.

Kurt, I really like the gold bordered shield on your pruner.
Me too. I haven’t a clue how that is done Jeff. I figure it must take some time to do as I don’t see it much. It’s naval brass which has more copper in it to help with rust in salty environments. The knife is just over 4 inches. I can’t remember for sure but I think the blade is A2. Daniel went to town with the jigging.

Sak Camper and Mora Basic

How do you (and Jack) like your Mora Basic? I bought one recently and have only used it for food prep. It's sharp, but doesn't slice as well as I hoped, probably because the blade is relatively thick.

Stopped by the Leighty’s Flea Market in Altoona, PA on my way down to DC for a 3-day meeting. Found a knife guy that had 3 Remington Bullet LE knives in boxes. I’m a sucker for these and will, one-day, complete a collection. From top-to-bottom:
- R1273 Master Guide (1995). Needs cleaning.
- R1123L Lock-Stock Barrel (2011). Mint.
- R4356 Bush Pilot (1993). Mint. Needs oiling.
- Boker USA Scout (1940-63)
- Schrade-made Snap-On 60th Anniversary (1980). Needs a gentle cleaning, being careful not to further degrade the scale etch.

It's been overcast & rainy this weekend here. I got the S&M Scout to help brighten things up a bit...

I went to the flea market with my father in-law this morning. (Funny coincidence @SCFlyGuy )
I haven't been to one in years. I wound up taking these few home with me. A couple of Imperials, one Ireland & one Prov. R.I. along with an EZ open Klein tool that's been well used.
I couldn't resist this old meat tenderizer either, I thought it was cool to have a stacked leather handle. I'm planning on fixing it back up & putting to use. I don't know how it'll turn out, but that's part of the fun.

Impressive scores at the flea markets, gentlemen!!

Sorry for such a belated reply and thank you, Gary. Hope all is well on your side of the lake, my friend. :)
I've been busier than usual lately and not spending much time on the interwebs and here I am today way behind but enjoying all the pics and activity. 👍
I rotated some whittlers the past couple weeks, giving each separate one two days apiece in the pocket. Today I'm tote'n a LT Wright frontier first fixed blade.
Hope all here are doing well and enjoying the weekend. :)

Doing quite well, Greg. The weather on this side of Lake Michigan is warmer and drier than usual for September. I'm enjoying 10 consecutive days with high temp in the 80s, but my wife prefers much cooler conditions. And we've only had a quarter inch of rain so far this month.
I always enjoy seeing the whittlers you frequently carry!

Today’s carry is a Case XX 6355WHSS Seahorse Whittler from 2004, which I purchased on sale at Coffman Hardware in Mackinaw City, MI, for about $40.00.
Handsome knife! My wife and I have spent a week or two in the U.P. each August for over 30 years, so we've driven through Mackinaw City and over the Mackinac Bridge many times. But I've only stopped in at Coffman Hardware ONCE! I was hoping to look over their selection of Case brown sawcut Barlows a few years ago and pick the one I liked best. But it turned out they only had one, so I bought it. It's the only new Case I've ever bought in person.

I know I posted my carry knife earlier, so this is kind of an addendum. I spent most of the day cutting up some trees that were uprooted by the flash flood a couple weeks ago, and ended up in my back yard. The Stihl did the heavy work, but I had to use the 112 to cut up some of the smaller tangled roots & root balls, so I could drag the roots to the burn pile. They were all covered with dried mud & silt, so I figured it'd be a real test of the Magnacut. I've done this in the past with S35VN & Elmax, and the knives were about as sharp as butter knives when I was done. The Magnacut is still sharp! I'm a believer.

That's quite a persuasive testimonial to the steel on your Buck!

Same sowbelly I've posted before but trying to figure how to take a better pic:

Looks fantastic to me (but I've rarely seen a sowbelly stockman I didn't like)!

I have many Favorite knives and these 2 are right close to the top . The 77 is in a slip to protect it from keys .Getting anymore like them is probably not likely in my lifetime .They are in my pockets as we get ready to go to Broadhead , Wi. to our favorite cheese and Cheese Curds .

Notable pair of knives, Harry!
I can't recall ever eating cheese curds "on their own", but I've had poutine a couple of times and really enjoyed it. (I think quite a few local restaurants are participating in "Poutine Week" next week, so I should look into that.)

Sweet pair; I especially like that Colonial electricians knife!

Repost of my picture from stockman Sunday, but it's in my pocket today too.

Others have inspired me to carry this one today (Wednesday...) it's still a little warm for this knife as it's what I call a coat carry knife but exceptions must always be made ;) Big CASE 75 Stockman, Amber Bone.

DblZodK.jpg
VERY nice bone color on both of those big stockman models!

Today's carry is a Gerber Silver Knight, an Al Mar designed knife manufactured for Gerber by G Sakei in Japan. The steel is Hitachi Ginghami No. 1. Covers are "zebrawood" (resin infused wood). Always a delight to carry.

Interesting knife that I seldom see, but it always catches my attention!

Simple and effective

Those 2-bladed chestnut jigged bone Case Swayback Jacks always speed up my pulse a little, even though I've had one of my own for several years!

Splendid Böker Barlow, José! I don't think I've ever seen one exactly like that.

Have a nice day ;)
Sensational wood grain!

Ebony GEC 66 for Wood Wednesday 👍

Classy knife!

These two should handle my needs well, and both are superbly lightweight. The Wayne Walker weight but a half ounce more than the 38, because thru tangs are magic.

Nice combo Fred. I like the blade on the Bark River.👍🏻
Thank you Bob. This is hands-down my favorite tiny fixed blade pattern. Shrink it any more and it's a toy, but the PSK is suprisingly useful in the kitchen and daily living. Elmax at .093" and 61hrc is a good thing. I wish more makers had used Elmax for folding knives, it takes and holds a wonderful edge.
Thanks guys. It’s a real bummer losing that ranch. It is nice that it will still be grazed. Not much development up in that area. We’ll either have to find more summer feed or downsize. Something will work out. It always does.

Awesome Micarta trio, FC. I especially like the inlayed Micarta on the fixed blade. That must be a new one.
Thanks Bart, I know you are a fellow lover of a good composite material. Micarta fascinates me! I've had this Wayne Walker quite awhile, I should carry it more but it needs a better sheath. I may ask for a Horsewright gift certificate from Santa for Xmas...
Sorry to see you lose pasture, we'll miss the photos. But, you're right (you can tell your wife I said that), an end is merely a beginning in disguise. There'll be more work to do, somewhere somehow it always seems to find us. Hope the next chapter is a good one!
I saw no Sao lamb this morning. Pics or it didn't happen!
That’s a new one to me. I like peanut butter and tomato sandwiches.

I’d advise latex caulk, not oilbase.
I'd try that sandwich, but don't spare the details Jeff - it's almost lunchtime 😋 Green or red tomatoes? Salt? Oil or Vinegar? White or wheat? And other condiments or greens on there?
It's definitely latex based caulk. Can you even get oil based caulk? But you are almost certainly right, the latex's gotta be easier to digest 😵‍💫
Gotta plant that garlic, thanks for reminding me Jeff you're a good influence ✌️

Nice Ranger, Jose’

Real nice choice, Will.
Many thanks, I'm really fond of the Grohmann as it feels so right in the hand-despite/because of looking weird :) I like the flat grind and smaller size of the Bird&Trout type too. It's my travelling knife for any food prep, the only aspect that could be bettered would be to land a Stag handled version as owned by CelloDan CelloDan Beyond the Valley of the Kool
