Not really, the biggest downfall is calving over the holidays. 😁 I’m in California and it doesn’t get cold enough to affect the cattle. I think it only froze once here last winter. Most people around here are “fall calvers” which means August-October. We pushed it back to Dec-Jan so the calves avoid the heat and flies in late summer/early fall and we don’t have to ship baby calves when we move from irrigated pasture to winter pasture in the fall. Probably way more info than you wanted.
Actually not too much. I thought you were higher in elevation where freezing would be a concern.
Greetings to all! Last night I had emergency surgery to have my colon removed. It went well. So I will be taking a hiatus from posting here for a while. In the meantime you all keep posting as I will be changing in from time to time.
Hope you have a full and speedy recovery

It's been a good long while since I posted here, so I thought I should post my new Robeson fish knife. It is bar far my biggest traditional. Here it is pictured with my Hamburger SAK and it's cousins, and Imperial fish knife and a medium Case toothpick. I guess I have a type lol.1000002471.jpg

A nice little walk down the Thames today with my trusty GEC 15 boys knife today.
It all got a bit surreal like a Hitchcock film at one stage.🤣
All the ducks got out and marched towards me then 2 swans very forcefully got out walked through the ducks straight towards me I used the bench to keep distance.😅
One kept following me as I left. 😁

That brought back a fond memory.
To avoid the usual “His piece is bigger than mine!”, my parents would say “You cut, and let your brother choose”.
Cut carefully, Zach.
I'm glad it brings back good memories Jeff. Thanks for sharing those.
As far as the cutting goes, ladies always get first choice 😉

Future archeologists will appreciate those of us who try to take it with us🤙

I meant to ask about your EO Navy Jack ~ does yours have 33 stamped on the tang, or did you learn the model # from old catalogs? My four line Camillus does not have a model number on the backside.
Always glad to learn something new!
Agree. IF they pack everything I want to take with me (over size solid bronze box. I figure bronze should last until "earth" is ate by the sun when it goes Red Giant in about 5 billion years.) I am hoping that future archeologist says the equivalent in his or her era of "WHAT THE F***K?!?" is. (arms: archery; long bow, recurve bow, (2 or 3) horse bow, compound bow, plus arrows and releases, black powder rifle and revolver + everything needed to use (including powder and caps) and maintain, compact 1911 in .45 ACP + a couple boxes of new ammo (1911 will be carried properly. Cocked & Locked with full magazine + 1 in the chamber), blow gun, slingshots/catapults, shepherd's sling, (sharp) Claymore sword, 18~20 inch dirk/dagger, a Sgian Dubh, maybe wear my kilt maybe with chainmail and leather armor, several pocket knives, so they know the thing in the box was literate, a couple fountain pens, acid free paper, unopened bottles of fountain pen ink, maybe a glass dip pen and a 100% self made quill pen ... 😇👍

So they can I.D. me easily, (presuming "English" in that era isn't as widely used as B.C. Egyptian or Hebrew is today) I want laminated copies of my (Live) birth certificate, AND death certificate put in the box with me. 😁👍

I verified the model number using 1930's - 1940's catalogs and ads in the sticky thread.
It helped the 33 EO Jack was made before, during, and long, long after the war.
