What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Stopped by a favorite resale shop this morning. He had the Case Trapper (2002) in Yellow Delrin for $20. Nice patina, but a bit of pitting on the CV blade, but good snap. He through in the Schrade 8OT that I suspect may be an import since there are no U.S.A. markings, although I’m sure a BF expert will know better. (I might have asked that question before?!?)

Looks like an import. The lighter color of the Delrin is not as dark on the imports, and the tang stamp is different on the US 8OT.

There is nothing wrong with the offshore Taylor and BTI Schrade knives.
(They even improved some of the knives. Taylor dumped the Swindon Key construction in favor of the stronger/more reliable, and repairable pinned construction.) When Taylor sold out to BTI in 2017, BTI elected to keep the pinned construction.
The OT's standard blade steel is 7CR17MoV, with a good heat treat. (OTB series have 9CR18MoV blades.)

Ha Ha! If he drops in I'll offer him a drink, that should change his mind 🤣 ;)

Beers, Redwine, Vermouth, Vodka (not for me though) Gin, Bourbon, Cognac and a decent cup of tea or coffee if he prefers :)

I see you're well prepared, Will. You must be in the good book as well! See, I chose violence tonight, slowly nibbling away on his head. Didn't even need the knife for it. 😁 And I agree with you, not a vodka man myself either.

We tend to say, when you see a really red and colourful sundset around this time, St Nicholas is baking cookies.

Sadly they don't do the real house to house processions with St Nicholas and the Krampuses (in Slovene we call him "parkelj", literally "hoof") in our village anymore. They used to mean serious business though. From what my grandma told me, when they came and a child refused to pray, they'd put them in chains and drag them outside and through the snow until they repented. Of course nowadays we don't get much snow anyway ...

I never realized that Taylor changed over to pinned construction. That was a good move. While I would have preferred Schrade to have remained in the US, I was glad Taylor continued with the original patterns, and I liked that he added his Lamb Shark to the catalog.

I was traveling for eight days visiting kids and grandkids in SC for Thanksgiving and arrived back home a few days ago. These two have been rotating in and out of my pocket the past few days. I'm back to tote'n only one knife at a time lately. Wood handled knives have a warm to the touch feel to me, like a fire in the fireplace on a cold winter evening. 🔥
Hope all the porchsters had a pleasant Thanksgiving.

Hope you are doing well.
Hey Rob, glad to see you posting again.

I was hoping you were just taking a break or on world tour or something and not having some trouble.

The Cat's a beauty
Glad to see you back!

I had to do double take since I thought you said the knife had the Reading Rainbow 🌈 etched on it, and I thought that was pretty interesting. I totally need more caffeine today. As usual, you have excellent taste in knives and coins.

Thank you guys. I'm doing ok for a seventy year old I reckon.😊 More caffeine ....🤣

Great Catt and pics 🐈👍🤠

Thank you David.😊

I hope you guys have been good, lest Krampus comes and takes your knives away tonight ... 🫣

We called that the "boogey man" when I was a kid. Thanks for the warning ! 🤣
I'll be sure and lock the dead bolts tonight. ;)
