What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carried this one last night and it is still in my pocket, something about the way pocket warmed ivory feels. Have a great weekend everyone.

Kris

As always Kris, stunning

Hoping the rain stops today, had plans to go to a lobster bake, listen to some bluegrass and look at some schooners & fireworks.

That sounds like a great time, hope you can still make it. We are going to take a long drive with the dogs tomorrow to check out the giant red cedar tree groves in Montana.

Tiny knife week -- day 6. The trio! These little guys don't seem to get a lot of love from collectors. (I didn't see any exhaustively researched displays of them in all of their variations at the Oregon Knife Collector's show, anyway. :))

And yet, it still has 3 things I often wish my finer knives had -- a small sheepsfoot, a nail-file, and a caplifter. Top marks for utility, even if it gets a zero for interestingness.

Nice conversion on the photo there and it does look like something you'd want to have handy for sure!

Hey Stitch after seeing that Northfield over and over, I have to know is it still avaliable anywhere? What model is it? If I may ask.

Ok, I'm a knife nut and I'm not afraid to admit it!

haha, that's the first step...

and, as always, lovely knives there!!!

Hunting season has kicked in for me, so I'll be carrying these two a fair bit (though there is a custom Sharpfinger on the way...). But I'm sure there will be a folder in my pack somewhere as well. :D

CASE Humpback Half Whittler. 622046.5

Short review. Got this the other day, an unusual and worthwhile knife, similar to the Humpback Stockman. Two blades, Swedged Clip and Swedged long Pen. Two springs but open interior with no spacer. Slanted bolsters, Redbone. Stainless. Cut-outs to access the blades.

STRONG POINTS. Excellent build quality, no gaps, no play, blades don't touch the liners, very sharp on arrival, first rate W&T. Cut-outs to access the nail nicks a real bit of quality,. This knife has completely sunk-joints, more quality. Don't think GEC has yet managed sunk-joints, maybe on the forthcoming 32 Northwoods 'Norfolk' ?

WEAK POINTS. 'Redbone' that's a laugh, it's a pinkish concoction with white streaks near the bolsters and liners, a very poor dye-job/colour. Not surprised by this. Tried dyeing it in strong tea, a bit darker and the white streaks covered up. CASE should get a grip on this dye process it's not good enough. Blades quite narrow given a reasonably broad frame.

All in all a very pleasing knife.

My version in the full Whittler is pretty dark red:

Depends on the lighting though:

And yes, I am carrying it today. :)

Yes, that's an OK Red, mine was Strawbery Lipstick:barf: These are nicely made knives though:thumbup:

Different shield on the Half too, a CASE XX in a lozenge shape.

Thanks, Will

I've had this Higonokami with me today, it came from dannyp in a giveaway. Superbly sharp and near unnoticeable in the pocket. A very utilitarian blade shape too.

My fresh off the USPS truck Case 6292 (CV to boot!) and a select peanut. The 6292 was sold as red bone but looks chesnut to me...I still love it either way. Nice consistent dye in the bone and good jigging.

I still have to set up a suitable background for proper photos. I have a background of traditional shaving so have a large collection of DE and Straight Razors with the belief that variety is the spice of life. I am afraid I have carried this over to my knife collection. I am building up a collection of working folders.....quantity rather than quality.

Today's choice was the Douk-Douk PM which is the UK legal carry version.

I am really enjoying looking at the lovely knives on display on this forum!
