What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This holiday season has been super busy for me and I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to spend on the forum. Hopefully I can remedy that in the new year.

We just got back from from a couple days at Disneyland. We had a blast and it was super cool to see it all decked out for Christmas. It’s good to be back and able to carry a couple knives.

Staying on the homestead today. It's been raining steady for the last three days. Too wet for my taste to play outside. It's Stag Saturday so I broke out this Buck Creek Copperhead to carry today. Sausage and eggs for breakfast. Dang!!!! Eggs were $10.79 a dozen at the Holiday Market yesterday.

I discovered I have some stored quotes from back in mid-December (up to Christmas) that I never responded to. Better do that here before we get too far into 2025.

Coupla knives with a bunch of Jeremy’s leather.

Your knives are a winning pair, Jon, and the leather is laudable!

These for church today. Yesterday's folder purchases and old Sparky. (Robeson, Hammer, Olsen, Colonial.. All sharp and clean now.)

Quality quintet, Jer!
I really like your MOTS Hammer Brand; I have an old Imperial that's almost identical, and it's one of my favorites.

Well, first at least YOU have matured Gary. My wife calls me her 8 year old.

The cube was a gift and it is actually a fridge magnet.

As for the checkered knife, I am finding the Rosecraft knives a great bargain. This one has a nice " grippy " feeling to it.
Belated thanks for the info, Bob.
It must be nice to be immature, I mean, Forever Young!

One of my favourite pairs today, just complement each other well.

Notable pair, no doubt!

Thanks Gary,
Yes it is an 80T 😎
I got it from a generous porch member, Old Hunter , (Thanks again Bruce)
I would love to see more of your toothpick collection
Belated thanks for the confirmation on the 8OT, Zach.
Here's another Imperial toothpick, with clip/pen blade combo:

I've mentioned it long ago, I love your armada of canoes Gary.😍
Thanks, Bob.
I've managed to commandeer a few more for my fleet over the holidays.

My tote for this week after giving the bland and washed out stag scales some TLC with potassium permanganate.

Congrats on the improvement, Dan!

Amber bone + patina = 🤤
Looks like an accurate computation, Chris!

I'm a sucker for fake stag!

It’s one of the old skills you don’t see very often nowadays, sometimes done to show people how ir was.
Thanks for the "brush fence" info, John.

Walnut and wagon wheels are wondrous, Jeff!

Does that Diamond Edge toothpick have a scaler blade?

The knife on the right is a brute!

One of my best cutters. Thin behind the edge, and the US2000 blade is a clear improvement over standard 1095. US2000 is the same as ingot cruwear.

I like the multifaceted handle on your Enigma!

Paul, your stag 73 is always a treat to see!

Utica Cut. Co. EO jack for the past several days. I've been down with a virus since Thursday, but, starting to feel some better today. 😊

I don't recall ever seeing that pattern of pocketknife, from any maker, before I came to BF, but as soon as I saw one, it sure resonated with something in me, and I thought to myself, "THAT is one heck of a jackknife!"

Terrific timber, Steve!

Something different today but still with an English Jack

I really like the gray handles on the top right knife!

Is it not true Mr. T, that you earned that moniker by trying to divide by zero at age 4?
...
I don't know if I was 4, but I'm sure the first time somebody told me "You can't divide by zero" I had to try it. I probably thought something like, "6÷2 = 3, because if I have a pile of 6 marbles and start taking away 2 at a time, I can do it 3 times before the 6 is 'used up'." (Repeated subtraction interpretation of division)
So i probably sat down with my 6 marbles and tried to see how many times I could take 0 away from it before they were used up. I was smart enough that I'm sure I didn't go beyond 15 minutes before I said, "I'm not making ANY progress here; I'll never "use up" my 6 marbles at this rate."

Good looking pair! The recruit is my favorite. I’m a fan of the soldier and pioneer too.
Agree!

Great looking Sowbelly Gary! Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Lance, and belated holiday greetings to you, too!
I saw sometime fairly recently that you have a good-looking D2 Marble's sowbelly, right?

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a Richards pipe knife I found at a flea market in Hessel, MI during our August vacation in 2015. First photo is what it looked like when I bought it, second is after I tried cleaning it up with whatever stuff I had on hand 300 miles from home.

Memories ... I remember my maternal Great Grandfather (1881-1973) had (and used on/with his pipes when smoking one) one similar to this.
I think his tamper was round. Tho to be honest, I might be confusing his with the one I had when I smoked a pipe (I NEVER smoked whacky tobaccy in mine) when I was in college.
My memory is a little hazy though. His may have been one of yours sisters or brothers.
He and my mum had a "falling out" when I was 12 or 13 ... call in "1967 or 1968", so I was never able to visit him again. ☹️🥺

You’re correct Gary! It’s a nice little knife as far as fit and finish goes, and the blades have a firm pull and nice snap. As far as their D2 goes, time will tell. I’m feeling pretty good about it though. By the way, the scales are black micarta. Lance

It's a cold, snowy day in Syracuse. By Sunday, the lake effect bands will dump 1 to 2 feet on us. I'll head out to feed the birds in a few with my Chamblin Swayback and my Boker BFF. I'll probably stick close to home today.

I know the feeling well Gary, having grown up in the Oswego/Fulton area. Very pretty but can’t say as I miss it. Beautiful knives, and don’t forget the SU game tonight!

The stag on that Rancher had aged really nicely. The Cosmo is sweet as well.

Well, it had aged too nicely for my tastes and needed some spa help. I’m not sure how well I did, but I like it much better now after some potassium Permanganate. Here is the before and after.
