What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Yikes! That's cold 🥶 You've almost reached parity: at -40 Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same 🤓

That's a unique bracelet you have
We might hit -40° a couple times in the winter. It doesn’t usually stick around for longer than a week though.

Thank you. I was bored and feeling creative one day, that was the result of some tinkering. :)

Here are some old quotes from between Christmas and New Year's Day that I saved, but I've been shoveling too much snow this month to have time to respond to them. But today is too cold to go outside for long, so here we go! 🤓

Merry Christmas!

Case Peanut

Good looking Barrel Knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
What wood are your handles? I have a Barrel knife I love, but I wish its oak handles were a little darker, like yours.

Dan, do you ever worry about avian flu, sharing your mate with your bright yellow bird buddy?
Lots of commercial poultry operations in my area have had to destroy millions of chickens and turkeys recently.

Mellow day ~ the girls took me out to lunch, and let me lay around napping and generally acting slothlike. A good birthday.

Kind of strange though, because twelve years ago the doctors told me I had an incurable fatal disease. Mayo Clinic knew better. But that changes a person. Now I look at each day as some kind of sacred gift, and let the years take care of themselves. They do roll along.
...
Very belated Happy Birthday, Jeff!:thumbsup::rolleyes:
That change you mention is something we should probably ALL adopt. We all have the incurable fatal disease of being alive - it's gonna kill all of us sooner or later!

Hasn't been a fun day overall. My wife was sick all night and still does not feel well. My granddaughters have the same thing. Plenty of puke to go around. I had MOHS surgery to remove a squamous cell carcinoma on my temple and now it's throbbing. Did have these beautiful knives with me throughout though. I also picked up a Schrade Old Timer/Uncle Henry display case this morning for a good price so the day wasn't a total washout.

I hope 2025 is starting out better for you and yours than 2024 ended up!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This has been my most carried, this year. Not sure what that says about me, or the knife. I have nicer, sharper, better equipped, but…I like it. View attachment 2745065
Plenty of knife attitudes and preferences are mysterious and hard to explain, at least for me!:cool::thumbsup:

View attachment 2745139A light, slim carry hanging out with me today, as the dust settles from the holiday.
Splendid Ram's Horn canoe, Lance!:cool::thumbsup:
I have one just like yours that's one of my favorite canoes.

The bright color of the bone handles dispels the fog pretty well, Mike!;)

Superb Böker Beer Barrel Stockman!:cool::thumbsup:

I'm carrying this 2001 SS Amber jigged bone Sowbelly today. It's my Christmas present to myself but only arrived yesterday - danged USPS. It's really very nice with only minor blade rub on the Sheepfoot blade and light handling marks. Pretty good for a 23-year old knife. Sausage and ????? for breakfast.

Carrying Ellie’s knife and Elliot today.

That photo got me curious: is Elliot named after Ellie, or are they both named after a famous relative, or no connection??😲

I got this Puma 970 Game Warden at the flea market. He’s seen better days. But at the price I got it for, I had to try to give him some love and a spa day. I hadn’t seen one before, that I remember, and got on fleabay just to see if I could find one. They are everywhere on there. However, the prices on ones that are much more lived and worn than mine were breath taking. I think I came out good. I’ll sharpen it tonight and will probably take him to work in the am.

Sorry for the delay in posting, y'all.
Life is doing its thing lately & I'm trying to keep up.
I've been carrying an Imperial Barlow & a Victorinox Pioneer at work these past few days. (Sorry no pics right now)
The BF Stockman has been accompanying me today.

I hope everyone on the porch is doing well!

Good question, honestly they had no relationship when we first thought of the name Elliot.
We narrowed it down to that or August (to have an Augie or Gus). When we realised it was very similar to Ellie it helped us decide.

My wife & I have to go to the doctor for our semi-annual physicals at nine this morning, and I might not go outside until then. I was out a little bit at 7AM with our labrador, who always has to check out the entire back yard every morning, but she quickly did her business & ran back to the porch.
