What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! It’s a cool 48 degrees but should warm up later. Not much on the agenda other than watching the big game later. I’ve got no skin in the game just hoping it will be exciting. Keeping me company a special EA Lamb and the venerable Modoc Special. Have a great day folks! 😀View attachment 2785539View attachment 2785540
As soon as I saw that picture (and before I read your caption) I thought, "Gosh, that reminds me of Vallejo.". :)

Great picture and knife.
For me, there's something magical about this version. I am waiting for mine to arrive.
What kind of sheath do you have? Is there a little hidden Owl on it?☺️

Came back from Tennessee yesterday. Thursday night an EF-2 tornado hit Morgan County killing two people and doing a lot of damage. I did not know the two women who died. Feel awful for them and their families. The fatalities occurred about 3 miles, as the crow flies, from where I was. The damage path came within a mile. The news was telling people to go to an interior room. I was in a trailer and thought, "I don't have an interior room." Fortunately for me it missed me. Lots of lightning, rain and wind, but I didn't even have any branches of size come down. Dodged a bullet. Luck of the draw. Life is fragile and can end suddenly. 🙏

On a happier note, Today's game should be a good one. I wouldn't bet against either team. KC's starters are mostly healthy, which hasn't been the case for much of the year. I was surprised at the Eagles complete destruction of Washington.

To those rooting against the Chiefs just because they've had great success after many years of slightly better than mediocrity, I offer this:

Go Chiefs!

And finally, my knife today:

Is the tree poaching criminal treating you to some Hasenpfeffer, or bunny nuggets? 🤤
While they were obviously NOT "Lucky" for him or her ...
Did you save and tan his four "lucky" foots, and the hyde for a sheah or pocket slyp for your bunny knife, or a kneck tye for use @ work? 😁👍

So many wasted opportunities! My bad luck, especially without the feet!

When I planted out walnut seedlings from their starting beds, I was infuriated when cottontails clipped them off at the ground.

I found out later that that pruning caused the plant to concentrate on developing roots, and those ended up being the fastest growing.
Now, when I transplant a seedling, I copy the rabbits, and prune them off at the ground. More of them thrive since they concentrate their energy on strong roots.

After the first season, they're too big for the cottontails to clip off. Then they try to get at my vegetables.
I imagine your hares can do more damage being a lot bigger. So were you able to get the kids to eat it without trying to pass it off as chicken?

That’s interesting, my figs have really struggled this summer so I wasn’t keen to have any more going against them.

The kids and I eat and enjoy rabbit but not hare, it’s too dark and strong for me. Basil enjoys it muchly so he’s always happy to get one.

Catt single spring two blade congress and Kissing Cranes whittler. The congress was a thoughtful gift from Harry (Old Engineer). The knife slip was also a thoughtful gift and came from Barrett (btb 01). Badger Blade show isn't far off and I'm looking forward to seeing these guys and the other friends I've made at this gathering again. Save me a seat at Cracker Barrel fellas. :)

Thanks friend, and congrats on snagging one! The acrylic is absolutely stunning on this run.

The maker is Rob Crist. He's the owner of Beard & Owl leather. It's a special order, Shearling Lined Medium Classic, Shark leather slip.

Rob's a good friend, and he always let's me know when the good stuff comes in. Shark is hands down my favorite leather for slip material. It has the soft feel of peebled leather, while still being tough as rawhide. Color varies widely from light to dark per batch and the grain usually resembles tree bark.

He'll have more shark in a month. If you'd like, I could shoot you a message when it comes in. Their cloth slips are fire too.
