I received a huge surprise this morning. My former apprentice and best friend handed me a birthday gift this morning, which was somewhat of a surprise. What was inside absolutely floored me:

I never saw that one before. Notice the saw is push cut, so when you're cutting drywall to install an electrical box, the dust falls inside the wall rather than all over the floor.

I put this home made knife on my belt after church, and along with the old walnut handled kitchen fork that used to be my Grandmother's mother's, it thoroughly disassembled a nice big organic Costco chikken.
The steel used to be an old dull bastard file, the wood is an Illinois species that I don't know the name of. Similar to hophornbeam, it's super hard. We called it ironwood when we were kids.

Cool homemade knife, Jeff. The wood could be American Hornbeam, often called ironwood, muscle wood or blue beech. Tough wood like Hophornbeam.
Your knife, blade and handle, has some nice character my friend.

it’s going to be a beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! That’s after the fog burns off. But since I love the fog especially during the summer when it’s sweltering hot elsewhere Gods AC keeps us nice and cool. Keeping me company today a fancy lamb and the Modoc Special.
