What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Seeing Ken Erickson's beautiful new slimline trapper today has inspired me to pocket this one in honor of its maker, John Howser:

It's hard to tell from this picture but is this the 302 with brass bolsters?

This is the one with nickel silver bolsters and charcoal dymondwood, now discontinued, but still available from existing stock. I believe the one with brass is only offered in a rosewood composite, still in production.

Glad you like it, Paul. And I'm sure John would be quite proud to hear (see) your words (and rightfully so)..

Thanks for the kind words Eric, Elliott, and smithhammer.

Headed to one of our favorite B & B's today, again with these two,

Today, on the way to the post office to mail off a knife and then going on to check out the rescues at PetSmart, I'll be carrying this lovely Schrade in honor of my friend Paul Hilborn...

Although this Queen Dogleg Jack has the same slabs and low price as the Queen City value line, it's a step up in steel (D2 instead of 1095) and finish (no exposed pivot pin, pinched and lined front bolsters, blades centered, tight and sharp, half stops with a slinky walk and a sultry talk, about a five on the pull). Whups the Case Small Texas Jack all to pieces (never thought I'd say that). Closed length of 3 1/2", 2 7/8" clip blade, 1 15/16" pen blade. Outstanding quality here, for not much money.
