That’s awesome you can get hickory trees to grow. What’s the tree with the pink flowers?I've been starting red oaks from acorns and shagbark hickories from nuts to replace the ash trees killed off by the emerald ash borer. This little guy is about four feet tall.
That is one gorgeous knife. Who made those original Colt knives?Stockman of the Week is a Colt "black stag" (actually stag bone) sowbelly
My understanding is that the Colt gun company had "original" Colt knives made for them around 1969-73, but I don't know who made them (and IIRC, most were fixed blades?).That is one gorgeous knife. Who made those original Colt knives?
A cloudy morning here in the City by the Bay! Got some rain earlier but it’s beginning to clear. Bought a new car yesterday and it’s being delivered today. Helps when your son knows the owner. These two with a nod to Micarta Monday. Have a great week folks!View attachment 2873237View attachment 2873238

A fine brace ! Getting a pang when I see the 93 Micarta, POSTI the Finnish P.O. - should add a capital s to the end of that but this is a polite place
Thanks Will, I sure hope yours gets resolved soon! That's just ridiculous. I agree micarta makes for a perfect work knife and it might be my favorite cover on this run, I'm surprised to say.A fine brace ! still won't deliver mine. They've had it since 24 Feb
but their excuse is that they need 'security information' about it due to EU edicts..... They can't find the code since it doesn't exist, therefore they cannot deliver it to me-despite it being properly addressed, tracking No. postage paid, customs declaration all correct, country of origin, value etc. Customs want to release it but the P.O. says NO so that's it, until they either destroy it or send it back ... to the U.S. Meantime, I've had 4 or 5 other non EU parcels delivered with no problem. Kafka couldn't have written this!
Rant on-going...
Great looking knife though and really think Micarta is the one for a tough work-knife user. If I ever get the chance....
I'm calling in the Knifegods about this!![]()
I am SO tempted by that bronze bolster Boker...Micarta Monday
It seems like maybe B&S quality control has gotten better in the last couple of years. At least from what I've seen. I'm hoping that's the case, they're affordable and US made so i like seeing them do well.Bought a Bear and Son Barlow a couple of years ago from a "non-knife" online retailer I'll not name. Recieved it and action was horrible. Main blade didnt have hardly any spring tension closed or open, and was real light in between, pen blade was good. I tried flushing the joints, etc. and finally gave up on it and threw it in my box o knives and forgot about it. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a shame because I really liked the blades. Decided to try Bear's warranty and shipped it back to them. Two weeks later I get a replacement in the mail and it is perfect. Been carrying it for the last 4 days and am liking it alot.
